What the PS5 DualSense Edge Controller Can Learn From the Xbox Elite Controller

PlayStation just announced a pro controller, called the DualSense Edge, and there are a few things it could learn from Xbox's Elite controller range.

I'd say there is something the Elite could learn from the Edge and that is replaceable analog sticks. Not just the stick caps, but the whole stick. That is a good move on Sony to offer that.

My son has an elite controller and it's had several quality issues already forcing him to send it back. Squeaky trigger with uneven pressure and a thumb stick issue. He's just living with the thumb stick issue now... Don't know if he's just received a few lemons or what

I’d prefer them not using the same crappy tech that everyone insists on using these days for sticks. While it might be easier to replace in the Edge with the whole slide out part, I doubt it will actually make it cheaper

They could learn how to make the controller last up to 40 hours like the Elite controller for starters.

That aside, the DualSense haptics are a huge step up over the Elite controller. They’re also built better from my experience. One thing I hate about Xbox controllers are how clicky the buttons are!

I play with no feedback at all. Don't care for it really. I have used both controllers but settled on the Xbox controller for PC mostly because all games use that layout as the defualt in all PC games. I been around since the early days of rumble on N64, and over the years I just do not care for any feedback, just give me the controller and I'm good to go.😊🎮

It was cool back when StarFox64 launched and it was the first game with a Rumble Pak, after the years I just wanted to play all games with no feedback that is how I like to play😊

Daulsense was already better than series x controller so the daulsense edge will probably be better than the elite 2.

Just combine the Elite battery life (preferably Elite 1's replaceable battery) with a DualSense w/ profile support and you're good to go.

Cheap and bad parts that go faulty in just months lol. Not just the elite but its a problem with most other pro controllers. Also at least a 1 year warranty and especially for early adopters.
Another very important one for me is battery life. At least 20hrs please...6-7 ain't gunna cut it...

I'd pay at most $300 if they can avoid these problems.

The Xbox remotes are SO loud. It’s a complete deterrent from wanting to play games on the system. I would pick multiplats on ps5 not just for DualSense features, but for the elimination of listening to loud clicks while I play.

Hey this is far from a lie. My wife would lay on my lap and sleep while I play games. I can’t even play with a newer Xbox controller in the ROOM without her raising hell. The D-Pad is ultra clicky. I play a lot of fighting games and I dare ANYONE to just rotate that bad boy in a 360 quickly and tell me it’s quiet.

Very subjective. I've used DS and Elite extensively and would take former over the latter any day of the week. DS Edge is a dream come true in my eyes.

I’d wager that you don’t seriously play fighting games on pad. I’d argue those games are the biggest test of accuracy for the Dpad and I can tell you with 100% conviction that every PlayStation Dpad dating all the way back to the original PlayStation has always been better than Xbox Dpads and has only been rivaled by Nintendo and Sega genesis Dpads. I’ve been playing fighters for a long time and there is no substitute but an arcade stick.

This, Xbox dpads have always been worst in class, and the dpad offered in Elite 1/2 controllers is no better.
