Its got a 60 FPS boost on the Series consoles in case anyone is interested. It's a little late for me to play with FPS Boost since I already have 100% on Xbox (I also have 100% on PS3 and PS4 as well). For the best experience I recommend a PC but Series is the next best thing.
It was what I always wanted out of a Shenmue sequel. Always wished Shenmue 3 would’ve been properly funded and ended being like Sleeping Dogs. Always felt like a more story focused GTA with good hand to hand combat for me. Definitely a gem worthy of occasionally revisiting, and a proper budget sequel would have my money day 1.
Shenmue was ridiculously funded for the time, and didn't attempt half of what this game did; even with 3 that came out almost a decade after Street Dogs.
I'd say Yakuza is the closest thing to a successor to Shenmue we have today.
Totally agreed. I just always had high hopes for where Shenmue was headed. 1&2 had great hand to hand combat with a fun crime drama story to unfold just like Sleeping Dogs. Was never a fan of the Yakuza games so Sleeping Dogs was always the closest thing to scratching that itch for me. Super awesome game. Also, I’ve heard the Judgement series by Sega is similarly good, but I hadn’t got around to trying them out yet.
Very little footing in the Japanese market vs Nintendo, and they already pay just to keep FF off of Xbox. Now we have Square selling shares in their developers, themselves, as they basically bankroll t themselves via FF14.
There's literally no reason for them to sell, and no real reason for Sony to actually be interested now that the western devs and IP are gone.
I don't know what you are talking about SE will be sold either to Sony or tencent before this year ends
It's amazing how y'all trash PlayStation and Xbox when it comes to Japan. In Japan people prefer mobil gaming so switch is perfect for them. This is a very niche market but it isn't big enough to where PlayStation or Xbox should go all out to gain footing
West and Europe is the bread and butter for current gen consoles
SE owns so many classic well knows IP's that there is absolutely need for Sony to buy especially if SE are wanting to be sold
Better question is as gamers do we want Sony to buy them or tencent?
People are still clinging onto the idea, even though nothing legitimate indicates it's happening and is all based on insinuations from outside parties that can't actually present anything cement there's a legitimate push for the buy out between the two.
Excuse me? They are the final 2 it's between them and tencent and no sleeping dogs IP hasn't been sold
SE sold off the baggage but I personally don't agree with that. It would have been a better deal for whoever buys them to have dues ex, tomb raider etc IP's
MadLad
Japanese news media has covered this story extensively so I don't know how or why you feel it's made up news
Before 2022 ends SE will either belong to PlayStation or tencent
Within the next 2 weeks we should get acquisition news but this maybe arc system works
Around TGS or the potential return of PlayStation experience in December could bring news of major acquisitions (yes that's plural
There's no need to get overly dramatic about it. Look at the logistics of it all. A company that's at all really looking to sell, and is on the verge of doing so, wouldn't be openly offering to dilute their own stocks in their own companies to outside business, nor openly stating their intent to invest in other revenue sources like NFTs.
I was so hyped for this game. Since it was anounced as True Crime: Hong Kong.
But it did not live up to my expectations. The melee combat is ok, and perhaps to a lesser degree the parkour.
Everything else is terrible. The driving is weird, super arcadey and not fun. The progression system is designed around extremely lazy map clearing of a ton of collectibles and the City lacks purpose outside said map clear. Everything also feels dead.
The game can probably still be entertaining, but this is not a hidden gem, it was a game that released with a lot of drama and great expectations.
I enjoyed the gameplay. The fighting, driving, etc, even the very limited gunplay, all felt very very good, especially compared to other open world games during that era.
I also like that they picked Hong Kong as the setting. I love that city.
But, that was also my biggest complaint; it was a pretty poor rendition of Hong Kong Island, and -JUST- Hong Kong Island, which, to me at least, is the least interesting part of Hong Kong.
I know Hong Kong is a big place and it probably wouldn’t be realistic to expect them to do a 1-on-1 scale depiction of the whole of HK, but like I said, HK Island wasn’t done justice either. It felt more like a ‘Chinatown’ version of HK, instead of the real deal. Lay-out wasn’t authentic, landmarks were changed, and there was just a whole lot of great stuff missing. The iconic ferries, for example.
I do hope that one day some dev will return to Hong Kong as a setting for an open world game, as there is just so much potential there.
I also feel the ending felt rushed. It came too abruptly, too quickly. It felt like the story was building up to something bigger and then it was just over.
I LOVE the world. Being Asian. Hong Kong. I just love being in the world, the environment. That is what makes the game for me. I prefer it to like GTA any day.
Wow, it has been ten years. I do want to revisit this. I really enjoyed the attention to detail. As soon as I started out I drove on the wrong side of the road, and the story, from what I recall was good too. I’d like to see a remaster or remake of this.
I remember True Crime streets of LA was so awesome it was the martial arts combat that I fell in love with. I never got as into the New York one but when Sleeping Dogs came out for me that was the best one. It’s still an awesome game. A full next gen update would be amazing or a sequel even. But yeah this is definitely a gem.
Love this game to pieces, been obsessed with it since it was True Crime Hong Kong. Shame a sequel is damn near impossible with the dev team completely dissolved, so unless they track down the majority of the devs and rebuild the team, even IF they decided to make a sequel, it wouldn't have that same something special sleeping dogs had.
Even though the game had a lot of flaws, I enjoyed my time with it. Would like to see a much better sequel in the future. Maybe I’ll consider buying it rather than borrowing the game.
Combat was good but to much mashing the buttons arkham combat felt better. I've no idea why I've not spent more time with it. I've got the difinitive edition might give it an install one day
Played it at launch, beat it, enjoyed it but it never reached the highs of a GTA for me. It felt like a spiritual successor to TC: Streets of LA, which I loved back in the day.
I still go back to play this game from time to time. I really enjoyed the combatas well as the story. Even the DLC story content was pretty good.
By far the best hand to hand combat in a GTA-style game. The narrative was really strong as well.
Recent got this for like 4 bucks on psn still such an amazing feel to this gem
Couldn't agree more.
Yes this was a good game. I played the definitive version on PS4.
