The game has its own unique charm for part of the first case. Then it simply wears out, and you get the feeling that you're not really doing any detective work, but that the game is simply pushing you around, pointing you in the right direction, using you as an errand boy rather than a CSI, and then most of the fun wears off. There's nothing really intellectually stimulating, the 2D graphic novel-style graphics leave things to be desired, and the concept tires quickly. On the plus side, the stories are intriguing, the voice acting decent, and it can be fun for a little while. Ultimately, however, the game loses steam rather quickly and ends up in the morgue itself, a victim of less than stellar design and execution.
Apple Games has posted a new feature examining CSI: NY, the latest game based on the popular CSI franchise. Published by Ubisoft the game allows players to enter the world of CSI: NY, experience original cases written by CSI writers, and solve mysteries alongside favorite characters from the hit TV crime show. Apple's article includes an overview of the game's features and list of tips and tricks for success.
If you've ever watched an episode of the popular television drama CSI: NY and found yourself yelling an obvious clue at the screen, now you can put your mouse where your mouth is with CSI: NY - The Game.
This downloadable adventure (also available on disc from Ubisoft, with an extra fifth case to solve) is filled with "hidden object" searches, mini-games and interrogation sequences, as you work with familiar characters from the show in order to solve four separate crimes. They're not difficult, nor are they long, but might be worth the $20 for serious CSI fans.
While it's an entertaining romp for the first hour or so, the game will tire quickly on the player. The show is much more exciting than the video game so it's best to stick to watching CSI on your television rather than playing it on your PC.

"..the game is simply pushing you around, pointing you in the right direction, using you as an errand boy rather than a CSI, and then most of the fun wears off."
..then again, that's kind of how I felt while watching the series. I never expect much from CSI games. =(

Sheesh, people still watch this show? Let alone buy a game based on it?
