Honestly, Chrono Trigger's main flaw is the fact that it came out in 1995. This might sound like a really stupid thing to complain about, and for gamers who love old-school RPGs, this won't be an issue at all. However, the genre has come a long way since then, and even with some new missions and tweaks, there's no denying that Chrono Trigger is decidedly antiquated. This game is still wonderful, and Square Enix have made sure that the handheld remake is the definitive version of the game. Chrono Trigger DS is a remake done right, and both longtime fans and new players should pick it up.
Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
Yuji Horii may have accidentally confirmed a Chrono Trigger remake at Comicon in Naples. Eyewitness accounts suggest the beloved JRPG could be returning in HD-2D form.
I'm still skeptical of HD-2D, and still want them to fix remaining foibles in the current Steam version. At any rate I've been seeing online that this rumour has been debunked
I would jump for a remake of Chrono Trigger then hopefully a remake of Chrono Cross. I wish Xenogears and the Xenosaga trilogy also got a remake or a remaster.
I am surprised it hasn’t been done already. It’s widely considered as one of the best RPGs all time. I’ll take it for sure. I want a Vagrant Story remake as well
Dragon Ball staff reveal how Akira Toriyama created one of Chrono Trigger's most memorable characters as the RPG celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Simply put, this is one of the most incredible games I ever played! I was lucky to have played this GEM when it came out for the SNES so many years ago. Every moment was wonderful, well written and exciting. The combat, Perfect! The music, Perfect, the story Perfect.
This game really came out at a time when Square was on top of it's game and no Square game has come close to this high mark. Multiple Endings and so many hours of game play! Ever so often I ponder the idea of emulating it and reliving those moments. Sadly, I am not sure if I have the time to put into a game I have already beat.
If you haven't played this game, you owe it to yourself to either find a SNES and a copy or download it via rom and emulate it. Trust me, you have never played a game as deep and engaging as this.
I would love to see square release a true squeal to this game. I wouldn't mind it if the graphics were the same, hand drawn wonderful as the first was. 3d is not always better!!!
