I heard this a ton before I picked up the campaign last year but I’ve got to tell you, I disagree. While I enjoyed the campaign, the environments are certainly not as varied and the characters aren’t either. I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again and like I was trapped in a sandbox. I think they need to take Halo away from 343 and also give the mainline part of the brand an ending or nice long rest.
It was still fun to me. Perhaps I've over rated it a bit because of how AWFUL Halo 5's campaign was and my extremely low expectations for this title.
I will say this in it's defense, it felt like an actual war zone like the old Halo games. The environments weren't as varied but it had the spirit of those games.
All hope was lost until Chief arrives. You single handedly turn the tides of a battle that was all but lost before you arrived. You can see the evidence of this as you progress in the campaign.
You see the morality of the soldiers on the ground become uplifted from impending doom to optimistic as you turn the tide of battle.
That is extremely cool and hasn't been seen since the good old days.
So I still feel this was a great campaign. It's the first campaign since 343 took over that they understood what Halo is actually supposed to be.
IRL, the people I know who have played it felt the same way. It was a blind test and they loved it for the reasons I mentioned above.
Infinite’s campaign was good. A bit grindy at times-but overall it was fun. Which it what it boils down to.
Not as good as Halo 3 though.
Even Bungie couldn’t make a campaign as good as 3 again with Reach. Halo 3 is just so good (except for that one level. The inside a butt level. You know the one)
Halo: Reach and Halo 3 have superior campaigns to infinite, but infinite was not bad. It was far superior to 4 and 5, and a huge step in the right direction for 343. The game had some of the flaws I see listed above, but I don't see any good things listed about it, so allow me to list some! For me, the gameplay was better than most if not all of the past Halo games. The grapple felt great, and the guns felt like they had a lot of weight to them. The boss fights felt way better than any attempt at boss fights in the past games. There are special enemies around the map that can give you badass versions of guns that just add to the fun of the sandbox. Granted, the open world could have been more diverse, but it was still fun to explore. It didn't really feel overly large or empty. I am definitely gonna hop back into it when coop launches.
Beat the campaign and really enjoyed it. Now roaming around the map and freeing up more hubs. Great game and lots of fun imo. Looking forward to whatever they will add to it.
I said last week, or a few weeks ago that the way people are invisioning coop is not how coop can be implemented for this game. They are trying to do something different, which is why it has taken longer to implement.
Yeah, I got into it again on PC just recently, and it's far better than it used to be. There is ONE thing that infuriates me though, and it's fully directed at Microsoft in particular. The fact that they can't accommodate split-screen on PC's simply because there is no way to sign into more than a single Microsoft account on Windows OS. Even though you can have multiple controllers connected at the same time. So, it's 100% an issue of Microsoft just not caring enough to do anything about it.
Pretty much every GaaS launches like that though, what sets the best apart from the rest is the devs ability to listen and improve and 343 has done that in spades which is why it's having such a boom.
Nope, a solid GaaS kicks off strong and keeps improving through updates, all while the devs actually hear what the players are saying and 343 really dropped the ball on that launch.
Thanks to 343i and XGS continued support, Halo Infinite has been definitely getting better and better over the past years.
343i is definitely the best Xbox studio to be ahead of Halo games and the actual results is nothing but proof that all you need is the right people in the right places. The last shake up definitely is doing wonders for that game.
Hopefully their upcoming Halo will be even better!
I would love to hear any examples of that because the most successful GaaS games follow this pattern like Fortnite, Apex, Halo, COD, No Mans Sky, FF14, Destiny, GTA:O, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves etc.
Genshin Impact, World of Warcraft, Dota 2, Crossfire, Path of Exile, Honor of Kings, Free Fire, League Of Legends, Honkai: Star Rail, Overwatch 1. You know, games that are actually monsters of revenue in their respective categories.
But I'm sure you find a reason for those not counting. And only the ones that fit your narrative to do.
It was aways at a good experience gameplay wise, I never see anyone that played the game say it was bad, all criticism was based on the slow addition of content and no forge.
This looks surprising good and fun. Maybe the game would’ve been complete should it have launched this holiday instead.
Looks really fantastic. Been waiting for this - coop is so much fun. This seems to be done right
Simply amazing!
Love that this will be available soon, can wait to play with my bro
