I’ll believe it when I see it.

gamer78041033d ago (Edited 1033d ago )

Great news, can’t wait to see some footage. But the last line worries me. I hope MS and Sony let the devs have their freedom.

CrimsonWing691033d ago

Sony won’t, guaranteed. MS has been less censorship crazy.

MadLad1033d ago

@awiseman

As was said in the comment you replied to, Microsoft has yet to ever censor games; as far as I am aware.

Sony has been bad with it the last couple generations.

shinoff21831033d ago

Do you have any examples aside from sony coming out and saying whatever they said. I basically mean what has xbox released where you would go damn no way that could go on playstation.

I cant hink of anything not one example.

@shioff2183

sorry, not sure why it won't let me edit my post, but I see what you were asking.

There's not a specific game only on one console that would not be on the other. PC, sure, but not console. This is more the censorship of content while the same game doesn't receive censorship on the other console.

A couple examples off the top of my head are:

Devil May Cry 5 (was censored in NA, but now only censored in Europe/Australia only for Sony)
Martha is Dead (only Sony censored gore scenes)

I know of a Nintendo game that isn't censored, but is for Sony:
Doki Doki Literaturę Club! Plus

Strangely enough when looking these up I'm seeing more reports that Sony is now censoring violence... which I know was done in Doki Doki and Martha is Dead.

So, yea, betting dollars to doughnuts this game gets hard censored on Sony's platform if not both. Typically, Xbox hasn't shied away from content nearly as much as Sony, but there's things like the Final Fantasy VIII Remaster that was censored on both, but more so due to the developer deciding that in response to stricter censorship.

CobraKai1033d ago (Edited 1033d ago )

Me too. I have all major systems, but the idea that one console will censor content is disheartening. Back in the SNES days, it was a little different as ratings, blood/gore, were in its infancy, but to censor a game today, especially when it was not originally censored, is not good. This is all speculation anyway. Nothing concrete yet, but we shouldn’t even have to be worried about it.

shinoff21831033d ago

Well look at that you can make a remake without changing stuff ff7r battle system

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake576d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake575d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69575d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake575d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69575d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter575d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake575d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds574d ago (Edited 574d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy

"I neither endorse nor condemn [the remake]! I simply don't know anything about it."

Cackocacho1040d ago

lmao What a promising prospect. 😆

awiseman1040d ago

This game is going to get thoroughly ravaged

0hMyGandhi1040d ago

I had no idea that James Gunn worked on the game. It now makes perfect sense.

VersusDMC1040d ago

While the james gunn non involvement is news suda not being involved is not news as he just had a supervisor role in the original anyways.

The original director bought the IP back from Kadokawa and is remaking it with Warner Bros(original publisher in us) blessing with a new team.

So the original voice cast are Hollywood friends of james gunn so they probably won't be back. Hopefully they at least get tara strong back.

OMG YES! What a gem of a game!

TheEroica1041d ago

Omg why? Make something new you dolts!

amazinglover1040d ago

The people remaking this are different from the original developer and have never made a game before you dolts!

CrimsonWing691040d ago

Yea, what weird times we live in where we can’t just get straight up sequels anymore. I’m with ya, man.

TheEroica1040d ago

The people making it could've made something new instead of something old and not really compelling. What dolts!

metalhead1041d ago

If this remake is profitable they should do Shadows of the Damned next. That came out a little before lollipop chainsaw and was one hell of a ride. Still excited for Lollipop!

Psychonaut851041d ago

Absolutely. Loved Shadows. Except for the “taste my beeg boner bit”.

CobraKai1041d ago

Now I gotta know what that’s about… or maybe I don’t

robtion1041d ago

The company releasing this remake looks to be new. They also have the rights to Killer is Dead but not Shadows of the Damned by the looks of it.

H91041d ago

Not my type of game because of all the fanservice in it, but at least a game like this being remade shows that the voice of an insane mind like Suda51 is still being listened to, which is good

Yui_Suzumiya1041d ago

You'd have a heart attack then if you played the 18+ eroge version of something like Nekopara or Maitetsu then, lol

H91041d ago

Haha to each their own, I just don't like fanservice

1041d ago
gamer78041041d ago

Wonder what they mean by realistic graphics…. Hopefully not censored. I also liked the cartoon look. Seems like a remaster would have been better but we’ll see.
