You can keep a boss fight challenging without overcomplicating it.

This is like saying simulation racing games are better than arcade racing games which are in turn better than kart racing games. They all serve their own purpose and their own audience needs. There is no right or wrong here.

I get the author may prefer Cuphead boss fights over Elden Ring, I just want to say what I did to remind others that there isn't one "right answer" to game design.

got_dam1048d ago

Absolutely. Completely different genres. Very little to actually compare. Click bait.

Terry_B1048d ago

Dualshockers...they are in a league of their own with thegamer and gamingbolt ..at least since they were bought and almost nobody from the old DS team is still on board.

lodossrage1048d ago

Yeah Dualshockers has become garbage. I didn't think anyone cold be as bad as gamingbolt. Until now that is

Gianoni331049d ago

Really non sense comparison....

Welshy1048d ago

We should start referring to cheap mentions/comparisons of Elden Ring for clicks as "maidenless journalism".

CrimsonWing691048d ago

You’re comparing side scrolling Boss Battles of a Contra nature to a 3D game’s boss battles? What’s next, Mario bosses are better than Final Fantasy bosses?

jznrpg1048d ago

Apples to Sumo Oranges comparison .

I know the elden ring stans wont accept it but it really does imo. Each phase is so unique and different where as elden ring bosses are essentially just hit run wait for big telling attacks roll hit repeat.

In Cuphead you have to for the same stuff in each form. You have to recognize patterns too. So not sure it's vastly different in nature.

@Crow They "You have to recognize patterns too. So not sure it's vastly different in nature".

Pattern recognition isn't a feature that you can identify with and use to make something comparable, it's not even exclusive to games. Boxer learn opponents patters, drivers learn other drivers patterns in races etc. Are boxers who know fighters patterns comparable to Elden Ring bosses?

It's a basic human trait that's more prevalent in some things than others, it's way too open and nebulous to use as a like for like comparison with something.

Lol downboted by elden ring stans. Most probably havent even played either game let alone complete them.

Using Elena to play Crash on Uncharted 4 was pretty great.

Saving some trapped aliens in Super Metroid and seeing them escape. Daisy's third eye in Melee. Seeing Mario characters portraits in a window at Hyrule castle. Megaman X using Ryu/Ken's movesets in mutiple entries. Bayonetta cosplaying as Fox McCloud while using an Arwing to kill angels and demons. So many good ones throughout the years.
