"The Montpellier-based (France) indie games publisher Dear Villagers and Madrid-based (Spain) indie games developer Retro Forge, today announced with great delight and excitement that they have just released the first major update for their ARPG/metroidvania “Souldiers”!
The said update is available right now for PC via Steam, with a console update due in the coming weeks." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
MonsterVine: "While other versions seem to fare better, the Switch version of Souldiers is an unfortunate mess. "
NoobFeed Editor Justin van Huyssteen writes - Don’t go into Souldiers if you’re looking for a hardcore challenge, but if you’re looking for something fun to play, with a great world, an extensive array of upgrades, items, and places to visit then this game is for you.
VGChartz's Evan Norris: "The audiovisual component of Souldiers is great, no question. Indeed, it makes for a wonderful first impression. Unfortunately, due to overlong dungeons, difficulty spikes, and long loading times, the overall experience doesn't quite live up to the game's production values. That said, developer Retro Forge has turned in an expansive action-RPG with an interesting premise, engaging combat, and a huge, diverse world waiting to be explored. There's greatness buried somewhere beyond Souldiers' beautiful graphics, waiting to be let out."
