Honestly smart move, there's enough pvp, operator/hero based pvp GAAS games with this same generic style out and upcoming.
That is really sad. Not only cancelling Hyenas, but the other unannounced game and cutting funds yet again for Creative Assembly. This would be the first time in a decade that Sega let those guys do something other than the Total War series and the last time this happened, Creative Assembly delivered one of the best horror experiences out there in the form of ALIEN: ISOLATION.
I get that profitability is low. But maybe it's because Creative Assembly has been stuck putting out yearly releases of the Total War series. Those games are great, don't get me wrong but the market is extremely saturated with them and they are limited in public as they are only available on PC and PC players are know for making their favourite titles last a long time. To the point that people are still playing Total War Shogun 2 from 2011 at reasonable numbers...
So I feel this is a very bad move. It basically boxes the studio in a situation where they are unlikely to improve their profitability. Now not only they will go back to the same yearly franchise, but they will have to do that with a lower budget and likely team as well.
Can't understand how it would save them money.
If the game was basically finished then surely release it and get a little cash. Surely the money has been spent already and now the easy bit is to release it. ?
It was supposed to be an online only game that gets updates for years. These would have cost em more than the development so far probably if the game bombs
They could have canceled it months ago already after seeing the reaction to the trailer(s). Nobody was caring or hyped about this.

The FTC has resumed its administrative case against the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft after having temporarily paused it in July.
The FTC will continue its case 21 days after the 9th Circuit ruling on the FTC's appeal, which will likely pass.
There is no preliminary injunction stopping the merger from happening, meaning Microsoft can go ahead with the acquisition, however the FTC can still break them up if they win the case.
It's a big if, especially since that would have to go through three degrees of judgment before it becomes effective. The chance of such a decision surviving the Supreme Court is basically zero.
What they're doing now is basically wasting taxpayer money in the hope that the loss will push congress to give them more powers so that they're less likely to lose in future cases.
I think it's pretty clear the FTC isn't seeking to waste taxpayer money, considering they've also recently started a similar antitrust court case against Amazon. Too much corporate consolidation is harmful to the industry as you can see with what's going on with Embracer Group shutting down studios they bought, and while it's fair to also not approve of Sony acquisitions (and I would agree), it's impossible to find a parallel on the same scale as what Microsoft is attempting.

Two courts have already found their arguments lacking and that was before Microsoft pulled the rug completely from the cloud part of the case by selling the rights to Ubisoft.
Whatever the administrative judge decides will
1: be too late. The acquisition is closing as soon as the CMA gives its final approval next week.
2: Useless, as seeking a divestiture would have to go through courts that have already decided against the FTC and have absolutely no reason to change their mind.
So yes. They're literally wasting money and resources, and forcing the companies involved to do the same.

No actually he's 100% right, the FTC have no power to stop mergers or force divestures, the only thing they can do is sue in Federal Court where they just got absolutely curbstomped and embarrassed by MS

The FTC is the weakest regulatory body in the world simply because they have no power and everything always comes down to federal courts, this is why the FTC have such an abysmal win loss record because courts almost always side against them

The FTC would have to win in federal court (less than 1% chance given they just got creamed by MS in July) and even then they'd have to go through the SCOTUS which has a 6-3 conservative majority right now
So they're going to hold a case AFTER Activision has joined Microsoft? This is a gross waste of taxpayer money.
Just so you know, they do have the task of breaking up companies as well. I mean, you can have your opinion on this being a waste of taxpayer money, but the logic that it is because it's after the merger isn't good logic on why this shouldn't continue. If that were true, then there would never be any case for breaking up companies to begin with.
