The Last Of Us Part 2 Could Be Getting Another PS5 Upgrade With How Things Are Going

Immersed Gamer writes: "It’s been a year since The Last of Us Part 2 got its PS5 Upgrade. But how sure can we be that it won’t simply get another one? And maybe, more importantly, SHOULD it get another one?

The Last of Us Part 1 remake for PlayStation 5 released a splashy cinematic trailer and it sparked a discussion about whether it’s necessary and if it’s worth the 70$. The quality has clearly improved, but how far has technology progressed since the original game – and what should the price tag be for said improvements? These are the types of questions that internet outlets are asking right now.

But I’m going to take it a step forward into the future and ask you, is the unavoidable The Last of Us Part 2 Director’s Edition for PS5 worth the 70$?"

It will definitely happen at the same time as the PC release. But it will be the usual 10$ upgrade.

jBlakeeper1041d ago

Nah they’ll package Part 1 and 2 together around me the time Factions releases.

darthv721040d ago

Im expecting them to make a ps5 pressing of part 2. Anyone with the 4 ver can upgrade if using a disc 5 but those who dont want to use 4 discs should be able to get a full uhd 5 disc instead.

CaptainHenry9161040d ago

They're good at milking the franchise for $70

mastershredder1041d ago

You loyalist fan-freaks are enabling Naughty Dogs’s 70 “remake” hike sticker price. If it sticks, it’s on you.

The game is in the can/ a completed production (and has been for a long time). It’s only getting re-treated for fidelity. NOT being casted, written, directed, programed and team-created from scratch. It is absolutely unjustified in its price.

ND is shoving you a piece of meat in front of your face to see if you’ll bite. You should bite ND and give them an earful rather than let them take advantage of your wallet. They don’t deserve the cash. They need to do something to earn community back, but even that is going to be a problem with Neil’s focus on $ and studio a-hole power. If ND’s focus is overpriced Last of us remake Games….I think its time for some ND house cleaning from the top down.

VersusDMC1041d ago

If ND means Nintendo then you are absolutely correct.

Flawlessmic1041d ago

Lol relax bro the remakw is worth it, ill be buying and paer 2 will only be a 10 dollar uograde when it comes so ill be getting both.

If its nit worth it to you dont buy it, pretty simple.

outsider16241041d ago

Part 2 upgrade should be free, period for those that bought the ps4 version i agree. But how come nintendo gets a passed and whatever they do is praised. You guys never seem to say anything? I'd like to hear your reason.

MadLad1041d ago

The article is literally about the game in question.
There's a trend around here where any sort of negativity had towards someone's chosen console, you also need to list literally everything else everyone else is possibly now doing, was doing, or might do in the future.

And I never see the "these guys" people always claim to be around every corner. Nintendo gets crapped on on this site left and right. They far from get a pass on N4G.

derek1041d ago

@outsider, nothing is free, there's always a cost.

CS71041d ago

Nintendo shouldn’t do it.
Sony shouldn’t do it.

Happy?

We lose when we bicker and fight between ourselves like this.

We should not be paying the same price for a game that requires 40% of work compared to 100%. It’s that simple.

We should raise our voices that this is something we DON’T want.

And it would just get worse and worse if we let it continue.

VersusDMC1041d ago

@CS7

What Nintendo is doing isn't what Sony is doing.

Nintendo would charge you 60 again to play last of us remaster on PS5.

Sony let your purchase of last of us remaster transfer to the PS5. Free.

Last of Us Part 1 is remade from the ground up in the Last of Us 2 engine and will be top 5 best looking games of the year and will cost 70. The cost of doing that is probably 2x the cost of Mario Strikers(and many switch games)that sells at 60. So don't bring up % of work.

I'm probably not even going to buy it day 1. Have to see in game quality and new combat. But to say this is a cheap remake or that it's the same thing Nintendo does is delusional.

DarXyde1041d ago (Edited 1041d ago )

So we're doing what-aboutism now.

The fact of the matter is that you need to look at Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft and how they do things. Nintendo gets away with things the way Apple gets away with things because their customers are collectively enablers. Xbox titles are very often perceived as being lower quality because there isn't much in the way of serious critique from their fans (but being the "side hustle" of a trillion dollar corporation doesn't help either). Sony? I think they get emboldened to do dumb things and the fans slap them down when they need to.

My point is this: any company can do these things.... But best believe they'll be punished for it. And if not, they'll do it again. It's exactly why Rockstar has not made GTA VI yet, why their trilogy was comically awful, etc. HelloGames made a massive 180 with No Man's Sky because they got flayed for it. A company with a lot to lose will care. The fact that Nintendo does what they do is outlandish, but again, where is the organized criticism? The last time they really cared, we got the Switch which is a great piece of hardware coming off the commercial failure of the Wii U.

To answer your question, people are quiet about Nintendo because their fans have come to accept it. And until they understand that they're in the driver's seat, it's going to keep happening.

glennhkboy1040d ago

Who said we gave a free pass to Nintendo? There were a backlash when Nintendo release the Super Mario 30 years addition, or the re-master of Skyward Sword. I guess the reason Nintendo gets less backlash over re-master is because Nintendo usually does game re-master only once-a-generation (while Sony does re-master every other year). Nintendo doesn't ask you to buy the same game again & again within the same hardware generation.

I call bullshit!! Nintendo hardly gets as much crap as MS and Sony. Especially when you bring in a debate between MS and Sony.
Where are the countless articles for the crazy price for nintendo that's on here. Same old sequel no. 999 and hey....it's 10/10, "greatest game ever"..

@master worry about yourself. I haven't played the original since the ps3 and I've forgotten the story. Looking forward to the remake day 1.

CS71041d ago

Do you really want to pay the same price for a game that required 6-8 months of work as one that required 5 years of work?

Is this a trend you want to support?

I’m hyped for the remake as well but cmon man, its ridiculous.

I don´t.

On PS3, Naughty Dog delivered 3 mainline Uncharted games, Tlou + Left Behind, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Team Racing.

On PS4 they had only 2 mainline games, Uncharted 4 and Tlou 2, between re-releases, remasters and dlc turned into "stand alone" game to cash in.

At the current pace of their projects on PS5 and their decisions regarding milk their franchises to death, I don´t belive that we´ll see more than just one new AAA game from them before the PS6 arrives.

SonyStyled1040d ago

I’m a little confused, are you trying to say ND released Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Team Racing on PS3, or just throwing IPs out there that the developer made prior to being a PS Studio? Just asking for context purposes

Obscure_Observer1040d ago

@SonyStyled

For short, I´m talking about how I think ND´s renewed focus on re-releases, remasters, remakes and game modes/dlcs turned into "stand alone" games, are detrimental to their overall games output. Specially regarding new AAA games development.

Espangerish1041d ago

Wouldn’t surprise me at all and then after that another remaster for the PS6. By PS7 it’ll be rereleased in photo real mode.

The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered 2025 PC 4K (No DLSS) Incredible Forest Graphics

CG says: In this video, we take a look at the same forest section on horseback in The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered that we showcased in 2020 on the PS4 Pro. It’s an amazing bit of exposition with not much happening aside from a bit of banter. However, taking it slowly rather than galloping past, the forest graphics are actually pretty detailed. One of the more beautiful moments from the game. PS4 Pro version holds-up pretty well (that output was upscaled 4K and back then, there was no DLSS or AI interventions that we know about).
