will see it later on my monitor, cause seeing it from my mobile dont see much of a difference.

LucasRuinedChildhood687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

The video is only 480p. The game basically looks like TLOU2 now.

I want to see the gameplay changes though (e.g. can Joel go prone, is it as gory as TLOU2).

The leaked description mentions "enhanced exploration" so some levels might be bigger.

repsahj687d ago

ign got 4k quality video.

FPS_D3TH687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

I can visibly see better textures, 60fps and way better lighting (rtx) from my phone

Eonjay687d ago

Yes its clearly better, even in this compressed video. Still would rather see a proper quality video tho.

bloop686d ago

It certainly looks a lot better, but I'm not blown away by what I'm seeing. ND are the pinnacle of gaming studios and this is their first release on new hardware so I was expecting more. Especially when you look at what GG did with Forbidden West. Character models don't look on par, and they really should be considering TLOU is linear and FW is a huge open world.

@coyboy

Take about having a terrible take. Name 10 better studios, not even 29, I'll wait.....

Fantastic game but completely unnecessary remake. Given that ND aren’t as prolific as they used to be, it feels like their resources would’ve been better utilised elsewhere.

KyRo687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

Aren't as prolific as they used to be? What have you based that on? The vocal minority who review bomb websites like metacritic, use game website comment sections and sub reddits that the majority of people don't know exist?

I agree it's a needless remake (my guess is that it intends to cash in on the TV shows potential mainstream success) but ND is as profllific as they come as a studio.

Jericho1337687d ago

Not sure you understand the meaning of ‘prolific’ - as in productivity. 4 games in the last 10 years (generously including lost legacy) is not prolific. Look at how many games Insomniac has released in that time.

Zhipp687d ago

Naughty dog used to release a game every 2 years. Uncharted 1-3 and TLOU came out in the same generation. They are not as prolific as they used to be. No developer is. Games just take too long to make these days

outsider1624687d ago

Aren't as prolific? Wait what? Based on????

darkrider687d ago

Top studio in the world. There aren't many better... Just that.

shinoff2183687d ago

Your crazy. They are just as good in every way.

RioKing686d ago (Edited 686d ago )

YOU + aRE = *You're

SullysCigar687d ago

Who's to say these resources were required on other games at the time, or where they were even drawn from? Let's not act like EVERY element of a development team is required to remake a game.

It's their franchise and they wanted to bring it up-to-date. All the better for newcomers to enjoy or those wishing to replay, like me. It was a PlayStation 3 game and - like Demon's Souls - I haven't played it since, so I'mpleased for this.

Name Last Name687d ago

People really don’t know what prolific means…

myfathersbastard687d ago

Unnecessary? Maybe.
Am I GLAD to jump back into a fresh coat of paint with TLOU2 controls and bigger levels, version of one of my top 5 games of all time on my PS5? Abso-f***in-lutely I am!

I just don't understand why one of the best games of all time needs a remake. The gameplay still holds up, and the graphics hold up well enough. It only released 9 years ago. We shouldn't be remaking games so soon.

nevin1687d ago

When did the PS4 remaster released?

porkChop687d ago

July 2014. So 8 years ago.

CS7687d ago

Unpopular opinion but I think the greatest games of the generation SHOULD be carried over from generation to generation.

Gaming is a unique medium where the gameplay systems age and make it much more difficult to consume the great works of a past generation if you started gaming after the game was released.

Books, movies and songs don’t have this problem.
(A Beatles song today is still amazing from a technical perspective.)

Keeping the legendary classics “up to date” celebrates the medium and makes it accessible to new audiences.

Imagine if Chrono Trigger or MGS3 was available today in 4K60…

I think a great example is Shadow of the Colossus. That game can be booted up and played in 4K today despite releasing on the PS2.

These should be handled by external studios that specialize in remastering with only references to the original studio to keep the spirit of the game as it transitions across generations.

porkChop687d ago

I understand what you're saying and I can agree to a certain extent. But TLOU Remastered is playable on PS5 and both the gameplay and controls haven't aged at all. It still feels modern.

It just seems entirely unnecessary for TLOU.

Rynxie687d ago

It's called backwards compatibility. No need to remaster/remake games that came out within the decade. If you missed out when the game first came out for whatever reason, a simple thing as backwards compatibility should fix that problem.

shinoff2183687d ago

Its to cash in on the updated graphics, tv show, and im pretty excited to try it. If it aint for you you arent being forced.

chicken_in_the_corn687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

It doesn't need a remake. This is the result of the community demanding remasters and remakes over new games and bangingon about nostalgia for the last decade.

FinalFantasyFanatic686d ago

This isn't the Remake/Remaster we asked for, something older would have been more deserving.

FinalFantasyFanatic686d ago

This is just like the Life is Strange remaster, so completely unnecessary, I'd rather they go back to the PS1 or maybe even the PS2 days and remake a game from that generation. I can't fathom why we're getting remakes of games with reasonably recent games with good graphics and gameplay.

gangsta_red687d ago

I just asked this in another thread, if this was just a remake of the remaster for PS4. But I am seeing some parts that I never saw from when I first played this game (maybe, it has been a while)...so I'm hoping they added some new story elements to justify once again bringing this game to out.

darthv72687d ago

It did say enhanced exploration. So that sounds like more ways to traverse through the game. Areas that maybe werent as fleshed out but now they have given them proper flow to get you from place to place while making it new experiences.

ActualWhiteMan687d ago

What a joke. They are releasing this before the promised MP that was supposedly in development from TLOU2 that was cut from the final product without discounting the price. Scammers.

AmUnRa686d ago

If you find them scammers thats your opinion. The MP wil come next year and it wil be a stand alone game with its own story. The MP where they where working on was based TLoU2 but they decided to make a complete new story in another city. That has nothing to do with beiing scammers. So i disagree with you strongley. I wil play the remake of TLoU and than the TLoU2. And next year i will play the stand anlone MP. I love the TLoU universe. They are great games. Thats mine opinion.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast84d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs81d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast81d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs80d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast80d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer84d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6984d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs81d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6981d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger129d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2384d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid129d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast128d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
