Xbox is planning to offer at least 5 new games across the next year

From Windows Central: "As Xbox gears up for its big Xbox & Bethesda Showcase on Sunday, the firm spoke with press earlier this week to set the stage. During a briefing, they confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will get its first TV apps in Samsung's 2022 range, alongside the ability to eventually stream games you've purchased that aren't part of the Xbox Game Pass library. Additionally, exclusive Xbox game demos will also hit the Xbox Game Pass service, as the cloud platform expands to new countries with even more servers to meet global demand.

With Xbox increasingly looking to the cloud and its Xbox Game Pass subscription service to grow, exclusive content has become increasingly important across all of its verticals, including PC and console as well. Last year Microsoft managed to nab the top spot on the Metacritic publisher chart for review scores, and will look to achieve similar across its next fiscal year, which for Microsoft begins in July. The only thing I don’t like the sound of is exclusive demos behind gamepass paywall. Smells like Sonys paywall for demos on their service.
Demos should be free and available to all, not just for those paying a subscription.

Game trials aren’t game demos. If you’re old enough, you remember what game demos are. But in case you forgot…

Demo is short for demonstration, a small slice of a part of a game. A pre-selected level for demonstration purposes that is intended to reflect the gameplay experience of the whole game.

A game trial is the whole game.

Yeah and it’s still behind a pay wall. Being able to play a game to see if you like it serves the same purpose as demos did. Also, this concept has been done before and still around. The only difference is you don’t have to pay for the privilege of trying it out, whether or not you unlock the whole experience by paying.

I understand they are trying to add value to the service. But what use to be free, is becoming increasingly locked up behind these services. Just so you can try out the trial cough, ahem… extended demo.

@rlow1, I’m not disagreeing with what you are saying but I also think you are still trying to redefine game trials as a demo. Regardless of which service game trials are on, they aren’t demos. Period.

If you want demos over trial access on a service, or demos without a service, you are asking for the ‘trailers’ of a game during a period of roses and rainbows of the gamepass/pspremium era, and few wanted it.

Xbox is doing great! Some seem to wish so badly Microsoft fails! I enjoy games across all platforms! Microsoft doesn't even require an Xbox or PC to play Game Pass! Nintendo is the only company that doesn't allow any of their content legally, on any other system at all.

I am looking forward to the Xbox Bethesda showcase! I hope it is fantastic!

It was supposed to release in November and they announced they are back to work. I think 2023 is a fair guess.

Just saying that MS never mentioned that they would release 5 "exclusives" games but 5 1st party games.
In other words, releasing Deathloop at the end of this year could count as 1.
the same could be said about Grounded which is still in early access at the moment.
Also, it's important to note that MS means the next fiscal year that is starting July 2022 so the why MS already released 5 games this year.

As a Sony fanboy that also has XBox Series X with 2.5 years of Gamepass left... I seriously hope MS can proves me wrong this Sunday, show me something that can makes Sony worries, push the industry forward (in a good way, not more live service crap).

Not going to lie, currently there are zero games that I am looking forward to on XBox (I don't get excited for games that I know nothing about). I hope it will change.

I dunno’. Halo Infinite was supposed to have been the exclusive that won 2021 for Xbox but it fizzled out and disappeared. I will always take quality over quantity. Give me 1 great exclusive like Horizon Forbidden West over 5 mediocre ones like Crackdown 3.
