-The game runs in backwards compatibility mode. This
patch only unlocks the framerate up to 60fps on current consoles.

- PS5 is limited to legacy PS4 Pro settings with a maximum resolution of 1620p.

- Xbox Series X has a clear advantage showing almost
constant 2160p (in the tested areas I have not obtained lower numbers).

- Xbox Series S limits its resolution to 1080p.

- Load times are faster on Xbox Series, as is usual for backwards compatible games compared to PS5.

Some games will run better on SX while others will run better on PS5.

In the end, both are state-of-the-art consoles.

It’s just me or you also feel weird when you read an enlightened comment from obscure 😵‍💫

Great take Obscure,

I think it come down to, what game, who made, how good they are at optimization for each system and time spent doing so.

From what I have been seeing as far as difference is, on average Xbox usually have a slight edge in resolution, Sony usually have slight edge in load times and FPS dips similar for both, with PS5 holding a few frames better in some test that are hard to spot otherwise.

Also Xbox is clearly gonna have smoother BC, it was designed with it in mind from day 1 and they have been using similar PC architecture forever.

Can't go wrong with either console, get both is my opinion or just buy the one you enjoy the games on as the power of both systems will be similar all gen for sure.

Livingthedream1103d ago

Both these consoles are very comparable, these comparisons are a bit silly now. You’ll play the game on your console of choice.

SurgicalMenace1102d ago

Exactly, it's not like you're going to trade in one for the other because of how much better old games run on them.

1Victor1102d ago

That explains a lot thank Jin

autobotdan1103d ago

Xbox Series X runs both AC Origins and Odyssey at near full 4k 2160p resolution at all times

Binarycode1103d ago

It should do. Old games.

PS5 is using PS4 and in BC mode. that's why 1620p.

autobotdan1103d ago

I dont care for explanations

Auto

Then you lost the argument.

ocelot071102d ago

Lol don't think he likes your facts 😂

autobotdan1102d ago

How did I lose any argument? I didn't make any argument. Some of you guys are totally uneducated

autobotdan1102d ago

I dont care for any explanations. I am just stating facts

So an explanation can't be based on facts???

And you think you're more educated?

BestBusdriver1103d ago

Who cares??.. every hardcore gamer has played those games over and over. My series x is waiting for some NEW AA games since horizon 4,5 and halo infinite My ps5 has much more variation in games. I would rather have that for my series x than best backwards console. I ve had it with remakes, definitive editions, patches for old games ect. You buy a next gen console for new games.

ToddlerBrain1103d ago

Our collective bad. Didn’t know this article was written specifically for you.

jjb19811103d ago

I see where they are coming from. In a way they're like "here's a game that's not up to PC specs but it will be by the time next-gen releases". I like remasters and remakes but I expect new games over re-releases. You didn't see this when PS2 came out.

Pedrof1102d ago

Not necessarily. I wanted a PS5 because I figured I could play a lot of my PS4 backlog in enhanced framerate. I'm not disappointed so far.

I've Been Replaying Assassin's Creed Origins, And It's Reminded Me What Shadows Is Sorely Lacking

It took going back to a much older game to realise just how empty Assassin's Creed Shadows feels.

"I've never thought feudal Japan would be a good Assassin's Creed setting. Give me 1960s southern England with mods and rockers."

Aaaaaaand that's where I stopped reading.

Terry_B16d ago

Never read anything on that website.

chicken_in_the_corn16d ago

I agree with the first part of their statement. Japan is so overused and it wasn't particularly interesting in Shadows. Now that it's been done, they can do something better.

isarai15d ago

Tf? Almost had an aneurysm at the thought of that concept, like what?

And shadows reminds me of something origins is lacking. Virtually every game is lacking something. It is because it is lacking, that it has what it isnt. Funny dichotomy that…

anast16d ago

Origins is a beautiful game made by talented people that got turned into a brutal level-gate fest by the CEOs.

PRIMORDUS16d ago

There are only a few Assassin's Creed games I played. Original, The Ezio Collection, and what I think is probably the best in the series Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the DLC. I'm done with the series, it's the same shit.

isarai15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Same, enjoyed 1, looooved the ezio trilogy, and 4 was peak, everything after that just sucked. Unity was a great direction but the bugs and how long it took to fix killed it, best parkour system in the series tho

AC Origins is the last great Ubisoft game. Period. This game show how great the Ubisoft story writing once was. Also the meticulous research Ubisoft did in the field of Egyptology. Ubisoft was so pride of their research that it made a separate Touring mode just to showcase all of their study.

10 Video Game Sequels That Saved Their Franchise

Video game sequels like Assassin's Creed Origins, Doom (2016), and Fire Emblem Awakening were just what these franchises needed to be revitalized.

Immagaiden768d ago

Lmao what’s Halo Infinite doing on this list?

Who would ever say Halo Infinite saved the Halo franchise

SullysCigar767d ago

Thought the same - very bizarre!

RE7 though... my God, what a shift over RE6! That franchise was definitely going in the wrong direction, so RE7 was a welcome return to form.

ModsDoBetter767d ago

Resi 6 was and still is the worst entry in the series.
7 was a great turnaround, despite people’s concerned about the switch to FP perspective.

DMC5 definitely helped the franchise after the whole DmC debacle. Whilst it was a decent action game, it was a far cry from the series and the characters we knew.

AC Origins is my favourite in the entire AC series. Despite the switch to a more RPG style of gameplay - the setting, soundtrack, length, etc were all amazing. sadly followed up by the ridiculously long and “more of the same” Odsyssey.

I don’t feel it’s fair to say the franchise slipped with Doom 3, Doom 3 was incredibly atmospheric and took the game in a different direction but there’s no denying Doom (2016) was sensational.

Halo 4 & 5 were disappointing but Halo Infinite definitely didn’t save the franchise? What?

TheEnigma313767d ago (Edited 767d ago )

I'm going to have to go with SMB 3. I was around when SMB 2 first came out and people hated it. 3 is still arguably the best mario game created.

HellspawnPR1981767d ago

"Halo Infinite"? Worse Halo ever. Whoever made this list just lost all credibility.

Hofstaderman767d ago

In future lists of a similar nature I have a suspicion Final Fantasy XVI will feature.
