Mike from Gaming Respawn tries a non-lethal run on the OG Xbox version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance in this week's Retro Respawn.
CG writes: Modder oct0xor released the rather excellent Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance third person mod yesterday, which allows you to experience the game without the forced camera angles/perspectives. It does take a bit of getting used to and would benefit greatly from having a first-person movement option when aiming especially with regards to boss battles. However, it does breathe a new-lease-of-life into this now aged game which originally launched on November 13th 2001 on Playstation 2.
An unofficial fan project titled Substance of Subsistence is bringing a third-person camera to Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.
It's the final part of our Metal Gear Solid trilogy, in which John and Stace discuss the qualities, themes and design of Metal Gear Solid 2's opening Tanker sequence.
