Best M.2 SSD's for Expanding PS5 Storage

Sony unlocked the extra M.2 SSD slot inside the PlayStation 5 and we've tested the top drives.

Good article but if you’re planning on buying one do your work and search for them yourself in the article there’s a SSD they said the 2TB cost more than the PS5 and when I checked it was 51% off at $269 making it a better option than the 1TB at $155🤷🏿

Aloymetal1062d ago

Yeah, I got my 2tb Cuda for $259 and that was a steal imo. Great SSD and future-proof.

RosweeSon1062d ago

Yeah WD850 with heatsink 2TB I got was £255 amazon had it for a similar price but wanted £499 RRP 😑🤣

Orbilator1062d ago

I was on a budget and bought an
ADATA XPG GAMMIX S70 BLADE 1TB PCIe Gen4.
Works flawlessly speeds are good and comes with its own heat sink.

And for £115 UK pounds delivered from amazon it's a steal.

My PS5 says it's 6300 read, so we'll above requirements and have had no issues

Exactly the one I have. Well the 2Tb version. Was £204 back in the Black Friday sales, works great

I bought the 2TB and had to return it. It seemed like a great value but I read that a lot of people were having issues with it. It was like a lottery on whether you'd get a good one or not. It installed, PS5 recognized it and the speeds were above recommended. The drive would constantly crash the ps5 especially when coming out of rest mode. This worried me because it had to repair itself over and over again. I put it in my PC and the firmware was at the latest version. I ran some read/write tests on it and found that some sectors or addresses were not readable. I tried to image one of my other drives into it and it wouldn't succeed. I just gave up and returned it. Then I bought WD850 black and it works like a champ. Maybe this is an issue with the s70 Blade 2TB version.

Adata actually tested better than many of the premium drives. I went with the 2 tb with sabrent heat cover

I got extremely lucky about a month ago and got a PNY XLR8 CS3140 2TB for like $180. For some reason a ton of SSDs were like 75% off on amazon, got a $11 heat sink and slapped it on there, works like a charm 👌

Nice good grab 👍👍

I got the GIGABYTE AORUS Gen4 7000s SSD 2TB ages ago and it was a good price then, even better now.

darthv721061d ago

I have the 1tb and have been happy with it. Aorus has been great so far.

legendkilla1061d ago

I've got the same 2tb! Works great!

saint_seya1062d ago

i will have to get a 2 TB one in the next 2-3 months, im alredy down to 70gbs, and my PS5 has been in my house for only 1 week (not getting more games for a while, but at the same time, when PSN extra gets here dunno what im going to do). I really regreat getting 2 games (GT7 and Ratchet & Clank) on BR, since i have to fully install the game on the PS5, and i have to switch BD's to play them. I miss the PS3 days when having it on BR was a way to save space on your HDD.

I use the Samsung 980 pro 1tb and I like it the price has gone down since I bought it off Amazon. I was going to go with the WD SN850 but the one I got from Amazon was dead out of the box also bought the heat sync off Amazon. I like my 980 pro the 2 tb version is like $490 Canadian.

Neonridr1061d ago

I bought the 1TB when it was on sale at Amazon for $219 (CDN).

Neonridr1061d ago

I got the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB. Super easy install and worked fabulously. Lots of great options out there, just wait for a sale and jump.

AvP on the Jag was pretty ambitious for the time. I always wondered what a smoother (faster) frame rate would have done for that game. nice to see a spiritual sequel is in the works after all these years.
