Maybe sooner

That jump to 20% Mobile by 2025 is also disgusting but if thats how Sony envision to rake in a percentage of profits, who are we to complain?

SullysCigar699d ago

This is a duplicate anyway @RaidenBlack. Something you should have spotted before you approved the article and fired up the hate train...

https://n4g.com/news/248103...

It's right there in the Twinfinite.com article.

SullysCigar699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

^ love for those disagreeing to point out how I'm wrong with that. Not wanting it to be true doesn't make it untrue. Let's hear it then :^)

Or you could just disagree again, because you hate that I'm right about this, and just eat it when the article is failed. Either way is fine; only the latter is expected.

Obscure_Observer699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

@SullysCigar

Story within a story is allowed on N4G after a certain time, dude.

Not everybody has the time (or patience) to go thru multiple lines of writing or several minutes of a video or audio to get access to relevant information.

SullysCigar699d ago

^ @Obscure, after a certain amount of time? It was YESTERDAY lol

I agree with you broadly, but we can't just pick and choose when to apply the rule and when to conveniently ignore it. The fact is, it was reported yesterday, right here.

"It was YESTERDAY lol"

Exactly. Any news will be out of the main page after 24 hours. Which allows "story within a story" kind of articles to be posted.

The headline technically isn't untrue, but it comes off as a bit misleading. Basically the chart shows percentages of first party content on different platforms. It shows 2019, 2022, and 2025. The 2025 chart does not include PS5. So at that point they won't be making any PS4 games. But it also doesn't state they'll be making any PS4 games past 2022.

SullysCigar699d ago

I expect it will be occasional titles, like any other gen. Yearly releases, like MLB and online multiplayer games perhaps.

This in no way indicates any further big hitters will be held back on PS5 in order to come to PS4. It's standard stuff.

Ashunderfire86699d ago

It will definitely be occasional titles, like sport games from EA games for example. Plus Unreal Engine 5 games are going to be made for current generation and PC only. There are more than 20 game developers making games for Unreal Engine 5 and PSVR 2 titles. They are not limiting themselves to cross generation. PS5 is looking to be more available this year in the fall, according to Sony. So cross generation is looking to be done this year with God Of War Ragnorak. I can’t see cross generation being the main focus 2023 and beyond. It would be few and far between.

Obscure_Observer699d ago

"This in no way indicates any further big hitters will be held back on PS5 in order to come to PS4. It's standard stuff."

To be released only on PS5 (or SX) doesn´t exactly mean that a current gen game is been developed.

There´s to be actual advances in technology like new or highly upgraded engines for example.

isarai699d ago

Again, SOME im fine with, but we literally only got 3 games built specifically for the ps5, i just want more after over a year later.

Ashunderfire86699d ago

More current generation games only are coming this year already dude. You will see them in the fall with Avatar the game, that new Batman game, Final Fantasy 16 if the rumors of a fall release are true. This is literally the last big year for cross generation gaming. Unreal Engine 5 games made from more than 20 developers are being developed for current generation and PC only. Witcher 4 and beyond is current gen only.

VenomCarnage89699d ago

Cross gen gaming isn't an issue, but Isarai is right, it's a little asinine that we only have like 3 actual PS5 games (and essentially 0 series x games,) after all this time. Regardless of what the future holds, it doesn't change how weak that is.

Also, Witcher 4 will be a PS6/PS5 cross gen title before it's a PS4/PS5 cross gen title. We're talking about a game that only yesterday was announced to be passing the "on paper" stages, it's got 4 or 5 years to go even with the sped up UE5 dev time

MIDGETonSTILTS17699d ago

When the competition doesn’t have an next gen exclusives 2 full years after launch, Sony isn’t motivated to make more than 3.

Obscure_Observer698d ago

Flight Simulator is current gen only, but I got your point.

The thing is, to release "next gen only" games is not a matter of reaction to what company A or B is doing.

Studios schedules varies among many factors. Once MS starts and deliver current gen only games, we don´t know when or if Sony will react.

Bobertt699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

Especially since they emphasized they had made the PS5 the quickest one for Developers to learn to develop for with it taking less than a month to learn how to start developing. For comparison they said PS4 took 1-2 months for developers to learn how to start using it and PS3 was 6-12 months.

Flawlessmic699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

If thats true then this will be the first time ill be dissapointed by sony truly and ive owned every console and handheld.

I mean what the actual f*** 2025!!

If thats the case then we all bought a ps5 wayyyy to early as we will still be playing last gen games just with a better resolution.

Our games are being held back, and before any one talks about its just about lowering the res and things like that and that games arent being held back, get out of my face.

Our games should have zero pop in, espcially on the ps5 side with its super fast ssd, particle effects should be wayy better, pyshics, destruction, AI. These are the things that being held back with last gens crappy processors!!.

I was willing to except the first 2 years but if this is really true then this gen sucks.

Microsoft devs need to account for lowest commen denominator of pcs being nvidea 1660 and the series s.

And now sonys hamstringing itself with the bloody ps4 which is even worse.

This will be the first gen i can think of that this happening.

What a joke.

Ps. Im talking about if sonys first party games are all cross gen til 2025, if its just 3rd partys devs still releasing games on os4 then whatever i can accept that but after god of war i dont wanna see ps4 anywhere near 1st party games.

SullysCigar699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

Take a deep breath lol

It will be the odd MLB here, online MP there, maybe some mobile games. If not, I'll join in the moaning, but until then, we can all chill lol

Edit: @below, I get you man. Let's wait and see. My pitchfork and torch are poised, but I'm not reaching for them just yet!

Flawlessmic699d ago

I sure hope so sully!

Just yea this new direction of sony makes me kinda beleive this stuff now, where as before i wpuod laugh and not give it a thought.

Ashunderfire86699d ago (Edited 699d ago )

Take a chill pill dude! It’s not the case at all. PS5 is not going to be held back by PS4 until 2025. Developers are cancelling last gen versions of their multiplatform games like the latest Batman game coming out for example. From here on out games are getting too demanding to be developed for last generation in 2022, so we are seeing a lot more games being made next generation only for both PS5 and Series X. Even the new Avatar that is coming out this fall will be PC and next generation only. 2022 is pretty much the last year for most cross generation titles. We bought the PS5 and Series X at the right time. Relax

TheKingKratos699d ago

""Developers are cancelling last gen versions of their multiplatform games like the latest Batman game coming out for example""

That is cool and all except that it look like crap graphics and animation wise and look far worse than Arkham Knight which looks in a league of it own

babadivad698d ago

I got them at launch and at MSRP. Didn't know how lucky I was until my brother dropped $800 on a Series X and felt like he got a deal.

brewin699d ago

You're right. We've been hoodwinked. They are trying to turn gaming into the phone industry and if we don't speak up then they will keep doing it. Expect the half gen upgrades soon 🤦🙈

zidane1341698d ago

Half upgrades aren’t coming out “soon” unless you count 2 years minimum as soon.

brewin698d ago

@zidane
Late 2023 will bring the PS5 pro. TCL investor meeting spilled the beans. The current model is too bulky and doesn't include enough memory. There will be a remodel with a sleeker design and more memory. 2TB should be minimum. The ssd prices are cheaper now, and I don't imagine Sony wants to keep allowing people to upgrade their own ssd as there's risk to brick the system. We should also start seeing some of the truly exclusive PS5 games then so they'll put out the new model then as part of a reboot to this current gen.

Levii_92699d ago

Just such a disappointment man .. i love my Ps5 but Sony just keeps disappointing me.. hell why even stop ps4 production Sony ? Keep it running for 10 years and make every exclusive cross gen for that extra buck.

Ashunderfire86699d ago

Why don’t people just read the article before stating their opinion? 2025 for cross generation? Don’t be ridiculous dude lol 😂 can you imagine Kingdom Hearts 4 for Xbox One and PS4 Jaguar CPU machines? It’s not going to happen cross generation gaming is pretty much done this year! Relax

wwinterj698d ago

Every console gen has games still coming out years after production stops. The odd sports game here and there for example.

Check the image from the actual article and you would know it is just a click bait
