Sony removed the ability to transfer games from PS3 to Vita, which unfortunately locks Vita players out of a lot of PS1 classics.

Sony really hates the players, demonstrated by an onslaught of anti-consumer moves - from PS+ Cloud Save restrictions, enforced DualSense on-console (despite input flexibility on Remote Play), no DLC Support for PS3 PS+ titles, upgrade fees on not just cross-gen titles but also now on their new PS+ service, to things like this.

Only Nintendo out-snubs Sony on treatment of their players.

This I have to agree. Nintendo is the worst when it comes to consumer-friendly moves, and now Sony is coming so close.

I fully agree that Nintendo cares less about its fans and stuff, but can we look at each company for what they’re doing not others? Yeah I’m irritated at Nintendo for more or less ignoring drift, limited releases like Mario 3D all stars etc, but guess what when I’m mad at Sony for something I’m not going to keep bringing it up, it’s not going to change the fact that I still can’t transfer my ps1 games.

Yeah unfortunately they gave it a decent start then just kind of relegated it to the bin. Really great handheld though and in its day was my favorite. Gravity Rush, Persona 4 golden, uncharted, tearaway, freedom unite monster hunter(psn downloaded psp version), and DRAGONS CROWN.. just to name a few.. such a good handheld I'd wish they'd try again man.

Only indie devs helped keep it alive sony got some games made for it. Just most aaa devs didnt bother. That was the vitas downfall

It seems like this was included in the most recent PS3 and Vita fw updates. So as long as i dont upgrade my systems... it should still work.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Sony did this. It's one more thing to push people towards CFW, and then that's basically priming people to pirate. Why would they take away a feature? Why do companies continue to punish the loyal, paying customers? It boggles the mind.

Just jailbreak your Vita, then torrent the whole Vita collection, + emulators and roms. At least you can have all the Vita games. This is what I did with the New 3DS. It's awesome. The best part all those games will never go away cause you have them forever 😁

Do they need it. Especially ps3. Sony supported that for a very longtime. They dont just throw out their old consoles. It got games up till not long ago to. When was the last 360 game released conpared to ps3

Does that apply to the PSP as well? If so, that's the end of me enjoying region-locked content. It's not a ton, mind you, and I was resigned to the possibility of this happening one day. Thankfully I made sure to more or less future-proof my PSP and Vita by investing in as much memory as possible and downloading and transferring over as much as I could when I had the chance. Still...not a good move Sony.

People acting like this is a big deal need to realise the Vita is old and dead, as is the PS3. They don't sell these consoles anymore - time to move on.

Softmod your Vita (and PS TV if you own one), and it becomes one of the best gaming devices ever.

- You can still play online if you wish.

- Use an SD card (even 1 TB!) instead of the over-priced and no-longer-in-manufacturing trash Vita memory cards.

- Remove the PS Vita whitelist feature, and play every game, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, and everything else on your PS TV.

- Nearly every single PS1 game available to play with SAVE STATES (1% of games don't work with the Adrenaline emulator).

- The entire PSP library, with hacks such as translation mods and with SAVE STATES.

- Retroarch (or other standalone emulators), I've played Pokemon Yellow 151 Edition mostly on the portable, but at times I turned off my Vita, and plugged in the SD card into my PS TV to play it on the big screen.

- Homebrew games or ports, such as Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas (ports from Android versions).

Sony has done nothing but disrespect their legacy devices, which are still excellent to play games on, and will remain as such for many years to come. Just softmod to solve all your problems.
