How Hogwarts Legacy taps PS5 features to make gameplay feel magical

From PS Blog: "With Hogwarts Legacy, we wanted to immerse you in the wizarding world like never before. Wand in hand, nothing is more important at Avalanche Software than making sure players feel like they are living in this world. PlayStation 5 allows us to take that immersion further as you build a legacy of your own."

Saw a video on PS YouTube channel showing off the DualSense features. Looks pretty deep and I can imagine it will add a lot to a game like this.

@The_Hooligan
Lol, I love that you were already reading it in her voice😂 And I agree, Imelda did a great job portraying Dolores in the movie. I can’t imagine anyone else in that role!

It is clear to me that Hogwarts is no longer safe...Internet searching, on school grounds...I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! Magic and the internet will NOT be tolerated at Hogwarts any longer. Failure to comply with these rules, well, the punishments will be severe and could result in death (smiles and giggles while looking at all the students and then looks dead on at Sully and mouths Avada Kedavra...) this is for your safety! Hehe☺️ - Dolores Umbridge

Even before I rad Dolores Umbridge at the end of your post, I was already reading it in her voice lol. She did great acting in the movie.

Looks to use the DualSense features extensively, I can imagine it will just get better. It's looking better as well, some improvements from what last footages I've seen, it's progressively becoming something I will definitely not want to miss.
3rd video, I have some concerns about AI :p

Om4ever1130d ago

So far I had to deactivate the haptic functionalities in nearly all my ps5 games ... So unrealistic and annoying

SullysCigar1130d ago

Lmao yeah. Using a stick to move and a button to jump is totally realistic though...or do you disable those too?

ClayRules20121130d ago

🤦🏼‍♂️Bloody hell.

ClayRules20121130d ago

The controller/light bar changing to the color of the players house, nice! I like that.

AshleeEmerson1130d ago

Lol, Idk why but I heard Supa Hot Fire... when I read that.

ClayRules20121130d ago

Lol. wow. That’s something else😂I like that though.

repsahj1130d ago

...looks great, but I don't know about the gameplay. A bit boring to me. Don't know maybe this is the effect after playing hundreds of hours of Elden ring, my expectations became high.

I mean, did anyone think the Switch 2 would be comparable to current-gen? Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s going to give you PS4 quality looking/playing games and in a couple years we’ll be onto PS6 and most third-party games will either be downgraded to hell or just not be available on Switch 2 🤷‍♂️.

Profchaos16d ago

I was never under any illusion it would compare to series s imagine the battery life

ABizzel116d ago (Edited 16d ago )

It’s doing exactly what I expected and what it needed to do base Xbox One settings in most games upscaled to 2x the resolution with DLSS when docked, and running with better performance. What more can you ask for out of a 10w - ~57w~ platform

Current-gen AAA Games (SX/PS5): 540p @ 30-40fps most games upscaled to 1080p @ 30-40fps
Last-gen AAA Games (XBO/PS4): 720p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p @ 30-60fps
PS360/Switch AAA Games: 1080p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p-4K @ 30-60fps
Rare cases the PS360/Switch games at 1080p@120fps games like Metroid

And that’s perfectly fine, except docked mode on AAA games could become fairly blurry on large 4K displays.

Sorry, I disagree with this sentiment. The Switch 2 is a current gen machine and well above the PS4 Pro. It goes toe to toe with the Series S due to great DLSS and a modern architecture in many games. This game (Hogwarts Legacy) has always been the poorest example of what the Switch 2 can do and appears to simply be a bad port. Cyberpunk 2077 is on the other hand a great port.

for a handheld it's quite nice, but don't go in expecting a serious console. Keep your PS5 and/or PC. You can tell a huge difference in those long distance shots w the foilage/grass. But again on an 8 inch screen, I bet it looks and plays decent enough.

Neonridr16d ago

the way I look at it, the PS4 Pro still had some gorgeous games. If I could have games that looked like TLOU2 on the system, would I really care about what it would look like on a PS5? No.

OtterX16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Only on my 55" 4k do I care for that extra oomph. I would be blown away to have a game on par graphically w the PS4 Pro version of TLOU II on a handheld!

Grilla16d ago

Graphics are irrelevant if it’s not running at 60fps

anast16d ago

Switch 2 is around $450 to $700 depending on the country. Let that sink in. Get that nice '280p' Cyberpunk...

They are comparing the S to the PS4. HA!

Couldn't go 2 sentences without bringing up JK Rowling's viewpoints (which are now acknowledged and supported by the UK Supreme Court). Time for all the "progressive" whiners to latch back on to reality.
