Doubling and tripling down on the Elden Ring name, at least in the short-ish term.

When your publisher's expectations of a game is 4 million, and then you add another 10 million and some to that, you best know that's your new baby for the time being.

John_McClane711d ago

I'm enjoying it, hope to see some dlc!

neutralgamer1992711d ago

You are right and it will probably end up selling 20+ million so it's in the best interest of the publisher and the developer to make more content related to that. Success can many times lead to stagnation simply because publisher sees that as easy money and developers get much bigger royalty checks than expected

That's why we haven't gotten GTA6. When the 5th keeps printing money why mess with a good thing(by good I only mean business wise) we as gamers want R* to do other things but they are too successful and valuable for a publisher

SeTTriP711d ago

I see this game selling over 30mil lifetime

neutralgamer1992711d ago

You could be right. This game could sell for a while due to it's quality

dantesparda710d ago

How about fixing the framerate! you f-ing bums! But then again these are the guys you cant fix frame pacing for the life of them. And their games are overrated.

isarai712d ago

Tenchu, armored core, please something other than another souls game. They're great, but i really want to see them do something different

Terry_B712d ago

Is Tenchu even a game by FromSofteare? I mean do they own the IP?

outsider1624712d ago

I think they do own it now. If they're gonna make one i do hope its a true ninja game,a bit more grounded without all the supernatural things.

bunt-custardly712d ago (Edited 712d ago )

People keep harping on for a new Tenchu game (myself included) but alas it never happens. Perhaps there isn't the market for it? Isn't Sekiro a Tenchu-like game with a soulslike action focus?

"Is Sekiro a Tenchu?

“We even pondered upon making Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice a part of the Tenchu series at first.” Miyazaki went on to say though that after more time, they decided it would be better if Sekiro was its own property, though he still acknowledged that Tenchu as a whole was one of the primary inspirations behind the game."

ToddlerBrain711d ago

It’s pretty much if Tenchu and Dark Souls had a baby. Sekiro was freakin’ amazing.

DARK WITNESS711d ago

I'd love to see them come up with a new Otogi

BlackIceJoe712d ago

I doubt it will happen, but a King's Field revival game would be great.

Seeing what new ideas FromSoftware could bring to this series would be cool and seeing what new ideas they bring out for a first person, RPG would be cool too.

Godmars290711d ago

"Demon Souls" is King's Field, just that everyone including the MC is a zombie.

-Foxtrot712d ago

I'd really love a "Souls" like game but also Sci-Fi, it could still have demons, dragons and magic etc but the blend of old school fantasy with future technology would really feel fresh and different. I mean I don't want guns and the like but I'm sure they could get creative weapons wise.

lonewolf10712d ago

I was thinking of Xenomorph/Alien x Souls game a while back, not sure how that would work but someone please make it happen.

bunt-custardly712d ago

I would be quite happy with a Souls type game set within a modern city. Not the same as Let it Die but similar.

edeprez711d ago

"The Surge" and its sequel will delight you then. Very good souls-likes, and completely tech inspired. I had a blast with them!

MadLad710d ago

Yeah.
They're both great games.

And I know it's a controversial title for souls fans, but I even really enjoyed their Lords of the Fallen title that came before Surge as well.

DrDoomer711d ago

Already been tried with Hellpoint. Concept doesn't really work. Dudes walking around with swords and shields, when there's all manner of futuristic tech all around, just feels silly.

"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."

If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.

banger8817h ago

If it was more online-only crap then good riddance.

jjb19813h ago

Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.

thorstein2h ago

I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.

Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition Reneges on Promised Content Behind $250 Price Tag

The new Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition has the community in an outrage after promising exclusive access to the new PvE mode for $250 USD.

Christopher16h ago

$250? Do they not know all the other games that already exist or will be made in the future that can do similar?

SimpleDad8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

This is for the hardcore people that have 2500 h in the game. They basically play that one game the whole year.
Oh and those same people are mad as hell at this... what a way to reward fans of your game and annihilate newcomers.

Microsoft’s Surface and Xbox hardware revenues take a big hit in Q3

Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.

solideagle7h ago

you should apply in MS PR team buddy, I think you will do a great job in my humble opinion :)

Sonic18814h ago

I thought darthv72 and Obscure_Observer already work for Microsoft 🤔

dveio4h ago

MS: "Xbox services and content without AB up 1%, with AB up 62%. Hardware down 31%. In total a loss of 350 mill."

darthv72: "Seems about right."

MS: "Excuse m ..."

darthv72: "I don't hardly play on my consoles directly."

MS:

Cacabunga6h ago

I can tell people like you are an absolute minority..

If service is up means their fans and fanboys accepted this model and subscribed to it. The near future you will see a big decline because the service is saturated.

shinoff21836h ago

But that's been ms for years. When things aren't going their way they try to change the way things are said. For instance console sales are down, they stop telling how many sold instead telling us how many hours spent in halo or headshots. So it makes sense console sales down just say people are playing on more devices then previous. What they won't say is how many xbox players jumped ship to ps5.

Cacabunga5h ago

Hardware sales are so bad that Sony and Nintendo are blowing the sales off the water with their hardware.

If Xbox are losers, others aren’t..
Xbox already tried everything with Xbox live then subscriptions went down so much that they had to find something else. Their fans subscribed then reached saturation rather quickly.

Hardware and exclusive games is where it’s at! Keep gamers excited, announce decent software and people will support you

itsmebryan49m ago

@shin
Well keep it simple Sony 's operating income is down 26% and Microsoft's is up 32%. No MS spin there, just facts. 😉
Cheers

Xbox hardware revenue tanks to lowest point of Xbox Series generation

Profchaos9h ago

I'm not surprised surface is struggling they aren't relevant anymore

XBManiac8h ago

Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.

SimpleDad8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."

That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.

purple1017h ago

Activision: "we gonna need a bigger rucksack/backpack please"

Microsoft: "why's that"

Activision: "to carry yo' weak ass'

Profchaos7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Top brass have also wanted to start seeing returns on the 100 billion they have put into various Xbox related moves so seeing more multiplatform games is highly likely especially from abk

It's basically saying that PlayStation is the reason Xbox is afloat right now thinks to Ps5 versions of COD

Kornholic6h ago

So basically PS and PC gamers' money is keeping Xbox on life support.
