iPhone and laptops get 3D without glasses

3D games and video without the need for special glasses could be coming to a computer screen near you according to one Canadian company.

Debuting at Macworld in San Francisco in January 2009, the Wazabee 3DeeFlector an autostereoscopic overlay will fit over any 13.3-inch laptop screen, such as Apple's MacBook Air, allowing you to view 3D images.

But it's not just laptops that will be able to show 3D content. Spatial View, the company behind the invention has said that it has also created a case for the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as 19-inch monitors for gaming fans.

Called the Wazabee 3DeeShell the bolt-on screen and case for the iPhone will be displayed for the first time at Macworld 2009. The Wazabee 3DeeShell is tentatively scheduled to ship in early Q2 2009.

According to its makers the "Wazabee 3DeeShell depicts 3D content such as games, pictures and videos on the Apple iPhone in an extraordinarily realistic way."

To help show off the screen technology the company has created 3 iPhone apps allowing users to view 3D shapes, download images and even take their own with the iPhone.

Pocket-lint will be attending Macworld with live coverage from the showfloor as it happens.

should be cool, hopefully this tech is finalized for the next gen
(that's if the world doesn't end by then...hehe)

lets hope M$ and $ony pays attention

Sony will, and add it to their next gen console. Microsoft will say it's unnecessary for gaming, and then add it later for $100 extra.

For Sony & MS ~ if it is anything like how the old Arcade game Time Traveler was, where there was an ACTUAL 3D hologram of a character you controlled then I'm all for it. If it is just a derivative of old 3d glasses making things just "pop off" the screen then No Thanx.

You have to actually see it to beleive it...the best way to describe it is to think of Princess Leia's hologram message to Obi Wan Kenobi that R2D2 contained, but in full color and without visibly projected "laser or light" lines and in 3D not merely a sort of flat image as in Star Wars. I have NEVER seen anything else like it.

Thats nothing crazy Ken said the Ps3 can do 4D.

pp6033d ago

I'm quite sure he said 8D.

im gonna get the add-on but i hope they can make an app that makes the movies 3D because right now it only works for pictures but if they could do that then that'll would make it officially the best app in the world in my opinion

just my 2 cents on this thing

peace and game on
