You look on a game's page to see if the game is controller compatible. Steam Deck verified means the game runs as expected on the Steam Deck. Steam Deck's controls support playing games without controller support.

Most PC games have controller support (not necessarily the option to change button layout if they are just lazy console ports though). I play a majority of my games on PC and with the exception of about 4 games I played them all on controller, even ones not fully supported.

I was playong encased not long after release. Idk now but at the time it showed half a controller i think and i was liking the game just kinda a pain with controller. Then i read it would eventually come to console so i stopped playing it and decided to wait.

Plus, there's also the option to play Remote Play if you're on your own Wifi. Then, every game works!
