Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Development Update

An update on the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

LOGICWINS1152d ago

So our reward for being patient is to wait even longer? Absolutely unacceptable. I get that delays happen, but this is straight up incompetence.

Why would you give this AAA project to inexperienced studios like Pune and Mumbai in the first place?

I don't care if it's Microsoft, Sony, Embracer, or even EA....buy these IPs and give them the love/respect they deserve!

-Foxtrot1152d ago (Edited 1152d ago )

Yeah it's bugged the shit out of me aswell since Day 1

Why give it to such a inexperienced developer all away in India, wouldn't you want something more close to home where you can actually travel easier to the studio to check up on the progress in person.

The fact they had Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune do this shows they didn't give a shit about this and they wanted this quickly done on the cheap to bank on the nostalgia as they knew how much people wanted it. Yet it's funny despite knowing how loved it it and how we've wanted a remake for years they still decided to half ass it.

Seems after the backlash (along with the other bad PR lately) they are shitting themselves as they know it could end up being a brand new PR shitstorm.

This game deserves the top end treatment, I just find it laughable their defence in the beginning was the graphics design was an "intentional choice" because it captured the fantasy setting better.

India is a superpower and I think Ubisoft were using the studio’s location to sell the game

NoLifeLoser1152d ago

Cheap labor, my friend. It all comes down to money.

Profchaos1152d ago

Cheap resources that's all.

At least they finally had the sense to take it from Pune and Mumbai and give it back to Montreal... but yea, gonna be a long wait! Should have done it from the beginning with such a beloved game.

The crazy thing is, Ubisoft Pune just locked their Twitter as private.

deleted1152d ago

Mumbai locked theirs too.

It was really a bad idea to give an unproven studio a major franchise remake.

SullysCigar1152d ago

Well at least now they're proven...

Proven unreliable. :^(

galgor1152d ago

Well, at least they didn't push it out the door anyway unlike a certain Rockstar games project.

TheEnigma3131152d ago

I hope they make all 3. Warrior within was my favorite of that trilogy.

robtion1152d ago

Yep, if they are taking extra time then they should do what they did with the Spyro remake and release it as a trilogy. That was extremely well done and great value.

An Update on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

Last year, Ubisoft announced that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake project was moving to Ubisoft Montreal, where the studio that created the 2003 original would take over development. While the project is still heavily under wraps and won’t be at Ubisoft Forward in June, it’s very much alive – and Ubisoft News had a chance to speak with Producer Jean-Francois Naud and Game Director Michael McIntyre about its status, what it means to Ubisoft Montreal, and what made The Sands of Time such a unique experience.

I love they are acting how much they love this and the care about the game

If they did they wouldn’t have given it to a lesser studio with nothing under them.

Shows you how much things can change with backlash

Knightofelemia766d ago

I am just wondering if Ubisoft will botch it like they did with the Ezio trilogy.

isarai766d ago

Especially with how much they say the buzzword "modernize"

Abracadabra766d ago

Where the f**k is Beyond Good and Evil 2?

senorfartcushion766d ago

They avoided the GTA remaster issue, but the language around it is funny. They’re hiding a badly-developed remaster behind false passion.

One of my favorite games of all time. I really hope they can pull it off properly.

ClayRules2012963d ago

Mine as well, absolutely love this game.

Here’s hoping they’ll put this off properly and not ruin such a beloved classic and gem…🤞🏼

Hofstaderman963d ago

Oh man ubisoft of today is not ubisoft of 2003. I’m not holding my breath on this one

ClayRules2012963d ago

That’s a fact. Such a shame, really.

-Foxtrot963d ago

If they just gave it to their main team and treat it with respect the first time round before giving it to one of their lesser studios who were only known for support work then maybe we could have seen a release date by now.

I'm very interested to see if Ubisoft Montreal was able to salvage this, because despite a lot of Ubisoft hate out there, this game is still an all time classic and I want it to be awesome. I'm really glad they had the sense to pull it from the Pune and Mumbai studios when they saw the backlash. Kudos to Ubisoft for not just saying screw it, and releasing it anyways.
