PS5 VRR Support Now Live; Here's How to Enable It

The PS5 VRR support feature is now live, and there's no firmware update download needed! Here's how to enable it on your PS5.

Appreciate the guidance. I've been watching high quality content this past few weeks and tweeking my TV settings.

It's truly a gorgeous picture, so I'm actually looking forward to seeing the impact VRR has on games I already considered amazing.

SullysCigar1134d ago

Okay, I just sorted VRR...

I was about to have a 'first world problem' meltdown, as my PS5 said my TV didn't support VRR. I put on my big boy pants, crossed my fingers and ran a firmware update on the TV. Sorted it. Thought I'd share that.

Also worth noting is that you might need to opt for a specific HDMI port for 4k HDR 120hz.

Now I'm off to force this vein back into my temple and relax with some beautiful, smooth games.

Check your HDMI, and make sure the HDMI port you're using on your TV is support 120 Hz, some TVs only have 1 or 2 HDMI ports that support higher refresh rates, it's why I went with an LG OLED all of them support it.

jznrpg1133d ago

@Abizzel1 I bought 2 LG OlED TVs CXC1 because all ports are HDMI 2.1 and a lot of other TVs only has 1 or 2 , also the picture quality to me is second to none besides Sony OLED but I believe they are still the same panels just different software running them .

SullysCigar1133d ago

^ I think you're right, @jznrpg, it's the Bravia XR processor that makes the picture difference.

There are other plus points for the Sony set, such as sound, but - as we all know - roll them all together, slap a Sony badge on it and that price soon rises!

Oh cool I'll give it ago shortly.

Can't enjoy it cause I don't own a supported tv and now have a broken wrist.

VenomCarnage891134d ago

Damn, with that in mind why did Sony even bother

SullysCigar1134d ago

I feel your pain, as I just walked that path myself. As a last resort, you could try updating the firmware on your TV.

Failing that, you could smash it with a brick and get a new one on your insurance. Which I'd never condone, obvs..

@blackblades

Gotta lay off on p0rnhub for a bit bro! 😂 I kid, I kid.... Sorta..

Activision says gross Call of Duty loadout screen ads were only a test that was added “in error”

Call of Duty added in-game ads to the Black Ops 6 loadout screen, but Activision is claiming the gross update was added by mistake.

Didn’t Ubisoft use this excuse a while back when they did something similar?

Christopher1d 1h ago

It's amazing how many companies are open with their inability to properly manage software releases while at the same time revealing they have designs developed and ready for full release to do things they know will annoy gamers.

Tacoboto23h ago

Microsoft has certainly used that excuse in at least 2-3 Windows updates over the recent years over ads in the Start Menu or something like that

isarai22h ago

🤣 bro how many times are we gonna hear this excuse just for it to show up again later

gold_drake22h ago

"oh so sooowy, we wanted to do iiit, but obviously not launch it yet, so its totally not our fault, it was fully functional tho lolzzzz"

Neonridr2h ago

I'm sure these were only by "accident" after the uproar.
