Like it or not, but it's a direct competitor to GOW from MS. They are really pushing it with production, graphics and technology.
Now all we have to see is gameplay, story and characters.

Even before the new GOW had a release date they were showing more than single multi-tone gray/black scenery.

And I'm trying not to be harsh, but this is coming off as another overly high expectations in need to be lowered.

How could you? You saw Hellblade II´s gameplay trailer and complained about the lack of on screen hud/commands, assuming that it was not gameplay. Lol.

Likewise how does if I played Hellblade or not invalidate my opinion of it being compared to GoW? Honestly haven't played the new game but I've still saw more stills and video of it and its gameplay as I have of either Hellblade. Many here have as likely never touched any iteration of GoW yet have put Hellbalde II on par with it.

Well, that remains to be seen. God of War is awesome and I honestly don´t think Ninja Theory has the experience to go against Santa Monica when comes to AAA development. But you also understand that Sony fans (like yourself) has curb stomp Xbox games and its quality for a long time. Just like you did, above.

Thing is, no one stays at top forever and Xbox is truly investing in first party games and its quality, to the point where they don´t need to rush anything anymore like showing gameplay of games that is are no ready to show.

Sony however has no other choice but to truly invest in their games AND convince PS gamers that PS5 games are really worth of 70$ in contrast with Series XS games at 60$ and day one Gamepass offerings.

So don´t be surprised when you see comparisons made between GT7 vs Forza Motorsport, Horizon vs Starfield and God of War vs Hellblade II.

Then, and only then, we´ll talk about those Seven Stages of yours.

Lol. Hellblade II takes place in Iceland which is basically made of dark grey/black volcanic rocks called balsat.

Iceland has more than 30 active volcanoes including Eyjafjallajökull which Ninja Theory visited and captured as we saw in Hellblade II´s first trailer intro. But fear not, Ninja Theory also visited and made captures of more than 40 biomes.

There´ll be plenty of beautiful and natural environments to behold. ;)

The last one was very much a walking simulator. Granted it was pretty good for what it was and for what it wanted to do. That said, I rather play something with actual gameplay. And expecting anything this game to be much different from the first in terms of gameplay.. well, it would be foolish. Hopeful but foolish.

Hellblade was far more engaging than Death Straining. That was a walking Simulator. Having to balance cargo, while walking🙄. Death Straining, was definitely a great looking game though.

@iplay1up2 Whos talking about death stranding though? I chose not to play that game as well. So you're talking to a wall. Regardless as good as it looks, Hellblade is in the same genre as Life is strange, Firewatch and What Remains Of Edith Finch.

That's generally the rub for a lot of people with different games. Some people feel that way about The Last of Us too: beautiful game, subpar gameplay. I disagree, but I can also understand that perspective.

Ninja Theory has never been a slouch in terms of tech. If any game was going to showcase something visually stunning on Series X, a Ninja Theory game was going to be the one to do it. They're simply masters in getting a ton out of the hardware they work on.

That said, I could not tell you a single game from Ninja Theory that I enjoyed for its gameplay. Mind you, I have tried Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, and Hellblade (as well as beat DmC) and I really didn't like any of them. It's like having a beautiful partner with no personality: easy on the eyes, but that's really as meaningful as it gets. I'm not at all saying that's how this game will turn out, but I do think it's very fair to be very impressed with the visuals at this stage while also having reservations about the experience. As a direct sequel to a game I couldn't get into, I lean toward "beautiful but no thanks." Everyone is different though, and it was a cult classic so I expect plenty will love it. Just not my cup of tea. Looks great though! 😃

The gameplay is great in TLOU2 even better than TLOU1 , the story is what bothered people not the gameplay it is too notch . Hellblade combat doesn’t even compare to the first TLOU or any game with good combat . It was definitely the weakest link in Helblade besides being a short game . They have a huge mountain to climb to get anywhere near TLOU2’s combat .

Nowhere do I specifically The Last of Us Part II—where is that coming from? I'm saying that the franchise in its entirety was off putting for some because they believed the gameplay was nothing special. I disagree with those people and absolutely loved both games in terms of technical prowess, attention to detail, gameplay, and yes, narrative. I'm only saying that there were people who said they didn't care for the gameplay (if you do a little archeology, I'm sure you'd find something on this site).

That is a very strange takeaway from what I wrote. First, I mentioned that NT games are usually technical marvels. That's something I find enjoyable. Second, for most games, in terms of gameplay, I can always find something good about them. Ninja Theory are great at puzzle design for example. I'm speaking about the experience as a whole. There's something about their games that come up short in terms of gameplay. DmC is the exception where I definitely feel there was good thought placed into the gameplay—but it was also hard to enjoy it because I just couldn't separate it from Devil May Cry in my mind and the controls were wonky to me. Story was a weird bastardization of the series lore and characters were unlikeable—the whole thing just took me out of the experience. The other games have bits and pieces of the makings of good gameplay, but I didn't care for them as a total product. The gameplay was never "bad", they just weren't for me.

Been gaming since the original NES console and I´m sure Hellblade was a truly unique gaming experience to me. Immersed in that game, I´d experienced, joy, hope, adrenaline, anger, loneliness, anxiety and even a bit of fear. The battle with Fenrir was one of my most badass boss fight ever!

So yes, I´m expecting Hellblade II to deliver TONS of fun now that Ninja Theory is working on a true next gen and AAA Hellblade game.
