Marvel’s Wolverine looks set to begin mo-cap work soon

From Theloadout: "It has been a while since Insomniac Games announced what will be its fifth PS5 game, Marvel’s Wolverine. But, it looks like mo-cap work for Marvel’s Wolverine is set to kick off soon, suggesting the game is now in a further stage of development at the studio.

Mike Yosh, a lead animator on the game, posted on Twitter an image of Insomniac’s mo-cap studio and the caption “so peaceful and quiet, ….it will not be like this for long”. This, heavily suggests that the game will imminently start motion-capture work if it hasn’t already, with the script, plot, and the main narrative beats all laid out."

Looking forward to seeing more from this game

Storm23517d ago

Me too. I hope it is rated M and is very violent with dismemberment and true to the tone of the character. Last of Us 2 showed that a game that is super dark and violent will sell, so I am hoping they don’t hold back with the action.

This is one of my most anticipated games ever. I know the next Spider-Man is going to be top self, but my anticipation for Wolverine is way bigger.

@ Storm
It will be M rated. That's one of the things I'm most excited about. If you're going to make a Wolverine game, an M rating is the way to go.

You would have to be a company and developer that makes high quality games consistently to be asked or given permission to make these exclusives again and again.

Must be something good going on over there at Sony and insomniac.

ClayRules2012517d ago

Oh most definitely!

Sony’s really got the best studio’s/devs in the business! Insomniac has been delivering quality games in a timely manner, and just looking at the PS5 (Miles Morales being Cross Gen) but nonetheless, they’ve got that game out to really great reviews and performance wise, fantastic on all Sony platforms, and R&C Rift Apart was an undeniable success and looks absolutely stunning as a PS5 exclusive.

Now, knowing Spiderman 2 and Wolverine will showcase the PS5’s capablies in ways I can’t imagine, insomniac will no doubt do Marvel proud, Sony proud, fans of Spiderman and Wolverine Proud, gamers and fans of theirs proud and I have no doubt when the games are released the team will be proud of the finished work they’ve accomplished :)

They know eyes are on them, but they’ll take their time to deliver the best games possible and when they’re ready, we’ll have them in our home consoles.

I'm proud of this message. Lol. Good show.

Please no purple "blood", and no super heated claws.

Give me classic mid 80s to early 90s Wolverine, and I perfer the pointy claws over the blade claws.

ApocalypseShadow517d ago

And hopefully not gimp it with robots. Excluding Sentinels of course. They can throw a few of them in there. Just a few.

Marvel's Wolverine Should Treat Deadpool Like One Classic Yakuza Character

Deadpool could play a vital role in the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine title by taking up the legacy of an entertaining Yakuza character.

I hope not. Keep it dark and grim. Just seeing Deadpool in that thumbnail makes it look like Fortnite.

Christopher77d ago

I think we can live without Deadpool. If he shows up he either steals the show or isn't present enough. He's too popular for being a main character now that he doesn't work as well as a side character in a heavily story driven game like Insomniac Marvel games. I also don't think any of us want to deal with the onslaught of "Why Insomniac MUST make a Deadpool game next" articles.

jznrpg77d ago (Edited 77d ago )

I am guessing he isn’t in the game.

They are going for a more mature darker tone from the trailer shown.

Deadpool doesn’t fit that at all.

I think I saw the first movie once but I’d rather they keep Deadpool in his own games

SimpleSlave77d ago (Edited 77d ago )

Absolutely. This is not about maturity but about writing and presentation. Yakuza is quite literally a story about the Japanese Mafia and it takes itself EXTREMELY seriously in that aspect. Then it flips it around and goes all silly goose on us. You know actual real life is.

The whole "tHiS iS mAtUrE" argument shows how plenty of people here have a lot of growing up to do. Too much Edge Lording and not enough Perspective, Nuance and Reality.

But then again, this will be a game about a guy that has healing factor, is like 200 years old, has indestructible metal over his bones and grows claws our of his hands. And he also hangs out with actual demi-gods and literal gods that are able to alter reality itself. So I guess I stand corrected. Deadpool might actually not work at all.

Oh, well. Maybe next time.

P_Bomb77d ago

Looking forward to it. Just ordered X-men Origins Wolverine to scratch some of that itch in the meantime.

Insomniac's Spider-Man And Wolverine Should Start Gaming's Own MCU

Starting gaming's Own MCU with Marvel's Spider-Man and Wolverine is a logical move Sony should make to boost sales amidst high competition.

Vengeance1138114d ago

God NO! The MCU is beyond awful now, or as it is now the "M-SHE-U", not everything needs to be part of some interconnected universe. Also this would greatly hinder creative freedom as making huge narrative changes would need to make sense for other games that are connected.
