VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "When ignoring the half-baked always-online demands and microtransactions, Gran Turismo 7's in-depth simulation and offbeat attitude can be consistently enjoyed. The strange contrast between the realistic racing and the sincere corniness in its presentation feels like a breath of fresh air. There are some misgivings to find within its design, on and off the track, but Polyphony's meticulous craftmanship handedly surpasses them. GT7's history won't be considered spotless, especially around launch, but it will still serve as a reminder of the idiosyncratic details that make it stand out from the competition."
A recent burst of activity on the social media channels of Gran Turismo's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, has set some tongues wagging about the possibility of a new marque from a previously unrepresented nation to come to the game series: Xiaomi.

It would be interesting. I’m all for it. Gran turismo is suppose to be the place to realistically drive cars from all make and models.
The usual update cycle has been broken, with a mid-month Gran Turismo 7 patch to include a Suzuki, a Honda, a Chevrolet Corvette and a Ferrari.
The first generation, Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani designed, compact car was seen as the famed Italian designer was shown around Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony Digital.
It's a miss. That polish that DP was known for is not up to snuff here. It's also really sad to see GT go the way of vulture transactions and even sadder for the fans/loyalists to defend it.
“You'll feel haptic feedback for little gaps in the asphalt in one part of Tokyo Expressway, for example.”
I know the parts you speak of. Diggin’ it!
Anyone else feel like the credits payout is to generous now?
Like I own so many cars now with almost no effort.
I did not like the Menus, they were all way too easy and the chase-the-rabbit style racing is SO anachronistic for a game that claims to be 'the real driving simulator'. The Missions are really cool though, I love how they're genuinely difficult. Same with the licences, they were brilliant fun. I really enjoy the physics model. The weather simulation is also fantastic (but for god's sake PD, add a radar BEFORE the race...or at least a forecast.)
The camera options are dire. I know that sounds nitpicky, but it is SO important for a racing sim game to have them. Us guys who are into this stuff put a lot of effort/money into making a rig, so why not let us adjust FoV etc? PD spent so much time on the interiors, it's such a shame they did such a lame job with the interior camera view options FORCING camera shake and only allowing minimal view tweaks.
Considering the longevity of this game will likely lie in Sport mode (and where most of the hardcore GT guys will be spending the next year+ in the game): They've got a great foundation for a brilliant online offering, but I feel a bit disappointed saying that because it very much buys into the philosophy of games as a service nonsense...pay now, get the game later.
PD need to find a way to make the excellent customisation USEFUL in Sport mode (not tuning, I mean the performance upgrades)...there should be an option for road cars to 'homologate' them into either Gr.3 or Gr.4 cars. Obvious candidates are the Viper 02 (turn it into something like the Viper GTS Oreca 2002), and the 2021 Honda Civic Type R (turn it into the Civic BTCC racecar). The penalty system needs overhauling. And to be honest, if they can do that and add new tracks, it's basically the perfect online racing experience.
