Unfortunately, we aren't in the timeline where Square Enix gave Chrono Cross the treatment it deserves for a full remaster.
Square Enix Switch sale for 2023 Tokyo Game Show includes lowest prices ever for Chrono Cross, Romancing SaGa 3, and more.
Remasters are fantastic, but they're also a little bit weird. They give us the chance to revisit some of our favourite games from our childhood, give new players the opportunity to share in our experiences, and sometimes they represent the first time a game is getting an international release. But why are they so inconsistent.
Lazyness money grabbing sums it up. Definetly when the game gets remastered for the 2nd time like symphonia. SR3 remaster they went in and touched it up more then a supposedly remaster would. Lately there been remakes insteadve remasters and Namco shouldve remade symphonia after tales of arise success insteadve a 2nd remaster. I'll be damn of they released a 3rd insteadve a remake. With the lasted they should had done a touch up like SR3 did and fix the issues amongst others problems or a remake like RE
Square Enix: "We have released a patch that adjusts the game's balance and improves its performance. We hope this allows you to have an even better time playing Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition."
Having played the original not too long ago I can tell you definitively that this score is so off the mark it’s not even funny.
I will not read the article or give this site the pleasure of a click. I will just say this: A game with a score bellow 5 means a game bellow average. An average game would be just bland, non-innovative, boring and maybe (maybe) with a few bugs.
A score of 4.5 would mean this remaster broke things the original game had, such as bugs not present at the initial release, mechanics ripped off, content cut and maybe changed story. There is any of this in the remaster? No? Then I have nothing more to say.
i saw someone play it on the ps5 and the framerate is all over the place. especially in battle. we're talking about 10 to 15 fps at times.
its a shame really.
How could they screw up such an incredible game this badly? The title screen song of the original was probably worth a few points alone. How do you have the quality of the original in your hands and produce this? The Chrono games are classics from the golden era of JRPGs. Very disappointing.
Maybe I will just wait for The Radical Dreamers to go on sale and just stick to the original.
