Weird West: A Frustratingly Inconsistent Immersive Sim - The Game Crater PC Review

Henry Yu writes, "Weird West is a commendable effort for the debut title of the newly formed WolfEye Studios. While it could have been an excellent immersive sim, it's held back by the clunky combat, shallow stealth, repetitive gameplay loop and horrible inventory management."

With so many games I truly was not feeling like spending full price on The Callisto Protocol. Now I'll have no excuses. Nice choice with Weird West as well. Solid month

VersusDMC205d ago

Callisto was ok...but that was before i played RE4 and Dead Space remakes.

I will see how i feel about it when i replay it after recently playing the hell out of the RE4 DLC.

Elda204d ago

Dead Space Remake is definitely the better game. RE4 is a good game too.

seanpitt23204d ago

I bet sony got the Callisto protocol on the super cheap! Shame it was an ok game but wasn't on the level of dead space

Andy_Dee204d ago

I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this!

It was an ok game BUT, the big hairy but here. What I did like that it was a different story than Dead Space and in that sense it was pretty good!

I've played all Dead Space games remake included and all RE games as well. The Remakes are insanely well made and I loved the new Dead Space but it was really well made but I also remembered so much of it so in that sense Callisto was "new" to me!

I really enjoyed that. I didn't have issues with the combat as well, I went into the mindset of Dead Space and used the Gravity glove as well as weapons and I recommend everyone playing on medium or easy to get that sense of Dead Space!

The Graphics and atmosphere was fantastic.

Becuzisaid204d ago

@Andy why would you get crap for liking a game? Who cares what other people think about it? I've never played Calisto but will try it out.

LiViNgLeGaCY204d ago

@Andy_Dee - Bro, no one's going to give you crap for that, haha. That's a completely reasonable comment!

crazyCoconuts204d ago

Definitely a solid month. Also, all three games are PS5 games, which may be a first

Terry_B205d ago

Excellent Month...hoped that both Callisto Protocol and Weird West would show up in PS+ or Humble Choice

Einhander1972205d ago

It's interesting that Devolver had that statement about subscriptions. PS+ has a bunch of Devolver games like Inscription Death's Door probably some others and Wierd West is Devolver too.

What's Games with Gold getting this month?

Simundo205d ago

Games for Gold ended on September 1st and replaced with GP Core.

Einhander1972205d ago

Oh so you mean they don't even get monthly games anymore but they still pay the same?

Tacoboto204d ago

GP Core has access to over 30 different games.

Think if PS+ got rid of monthly games but instead had a bigger PS+ Collection like they used to have for PS5 gamers.

Simundo204d ago

@Einhander1972 No more monthly games but It comes with a library of 25 games that they say they will update 2 or 3 times a year. The current 25 are OKish but old so not a good list for me. It's pretty rubbish TBH and feels like probably the bare minium they can get a way with offering without all out scathing criticism. Getting all subs over to GP proper is still the ultimate goal.

Eonjay204d ago

Also, for those interested in GP numbers (as outlined in the leak) you should expect to hear Microsoft claim that September marks the biggest rise in GP subs. This will be true but it will also be massive PR. Take a closer look and you see that the 10 million or so Gold members are being converted to GP core this month. This is where the majority of the bump will come from. Microsoft should be expected to insinuate, quite falsely, that this is due to Starfield.

Einhander1972204d ago

GP Core you say, they're not on game pass too right, it's not just a list of recycled game pass games circa 2019 right?

Just an FYI I still have access to the collection, how many games will you get to keep from your GP Core collection?

Simundo204d ago (Edited 204d ago )

@Einhander1972 Just checked and the full list is 36 games not 25. There's quite a few first party games that appear on Core and Ultimate like FH4. But not sure if all are on Ultimate. You only have access to the games while subbed and don't keep any like you did with 360 games with Games for Gold. You do still get access though I think to any Xbox One games you redeemed with Games for Gold when subbed. Anyway the full list if you're interested is:

Among Us
Astroneer
Celeste
Dead Cells
Descenders
Dishonored 2
DOOM Eternal Standard Edition
Fable Anniversary
Fallout 4
Fallout 76
Firewatch
Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition
Gang Beasts
Gears 5 Game of the Year Edition
Golf With Your Friends
Grounded
Halo 5: Guardians
Halo Wars 2
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
Human Fall Flat
Inside
Limbo
Ori & the Will of the Wisps
Overcooked! 2
Payday 2: Crimewave Edition
PowerWash Simulator
Psychonauts 2
Slay The Spire
Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition
Stardew Valley
State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition
Superliminal
The Elder Scrolls Online
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
Unpacking
Vampire Survivors

Einhander1972204d ago (Edited 204d ago )

Oh yeah, seems like a bunch of old and recycled game pass games.

That must be a real let down for xbox owners especially gp ultimate owners, but I guess the games they were adding before were so bad they don't even care anymore.

Thanks for being so helpful.

Eonjay204d ago

Well... the list is still orders (upon orders) of magnitude better than what GWG was giving out.

Einhander1972204d ago

Eonjay

How is this a better solution than just giving out better games?

The only winner here is Microsoft, they are charging the same and spending basically nothing.

It's like the other day when xbox fans were talking about how profitable xbox was while looking at bar graphs that showed Sony was making close to double the revenue but was taking home even less profit.

The real way to look at that is that PlayStation is returning a much larger amount of their revenue back into the company and the customer.

Microsoft as we see here is returning less of what xbox consumers are paying back into the games and services.

Bro come on I don't have anything by Microsoft playstion since the ps1 but damn leave them alone all this flaming the other system and stuff. I sure the people that have the equivalent of ps+ on Ms are fine with it. They choose to use it. You of course can state your opinion on the matter I just get tired of all the comparisons and arguments about what's better on the subscriptions. It's childish I didn't even do that back in the nes and genesis days even though it's been happening since then.

crazyCoconuts204d ago

Dude you sound like a PC gamer with an AMD video card 😉

FIELDMARSHALL_P204d ago

@crazycoconuts nope just got a 2,3,4,5 and a switch.

TheEnigma313205d ago

Nice, get to play Callisto. PS kills it again.

Solid month. If you pick something too big everyone is mad because they already have it, but if you go too obscure most people aren't interested. Callisto Protocol fits perfectly in that "I'm interested but not enough to commit to buying" zone that is perfect for PS Plus.
