Hogwarts Legacy Might Have Too Much Going On

Hogwarts Legacy features everything and more to please Harry Potter fans, but Avalanche should ensure it does not try to do too much in one go.

Wow really? Telling them they're making too much content. I've heard it all now. The fact they put so much into it is the selling point to me. I'd rather play an average game (this is saying it turns out average for arguments sake I personally think it will be great) that swung for the fences than play a tiny portion of something that does very little and is repetitive.

I think the author is more mentioning that while having lots of features is a good thing, having a bunch of unfleshed out ideas for the sake of quantity isn't always better. I'm all for more content, but I'd rather a solidly crafted experience first and foremost.

Having too much for the sake of having too much have always been a bad thing, biggest example is assassin's Creed, but we can't tell if they are doing it well or not until we play the game

Rimeskeem1179d ago

I understand the whole "might" but honestly it seems the devs know what they are doing. If there is loads of half assed content then yes, but it seems they are really trying to make the world feel alive and exactly what fans of the wizarding world would want.

Neonridr1179d ago

I have huge faith in them. I love the world of Harry Potter and will definitely pick this game up.

Just pretend Morgana sends you to bed every night so you don't have to make choices.

GoodGuy091179d ago (Edited 1179d ago )

Its like bully or persona to me. Loved those games and they had a lot going on too lol. We still need to see more of the game and play it ourselves to really tell.

Moan, moan, moaning again. I don't even know why half the gamers are even gamers these days.

I mean, did anyone think the Switch 2 would be comparable to current-gen? Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s going to give you PS4 quality looking/playing games and in a couple years we’ll be onto PS6 and most third-party games will either be downgraded to hell or just not be available on Switch 2 🤷‍♂️.

Profchaos2d ago

I was never under any illusion it would compare to series s imagine the battery life

ABizzel12d ago (Edited 2d ago )

It’s doing exactly what I expected and what it needed to do base Xbox One settings in most games upscaled to 2x the resolution with DLSS when docked, and running with better performance. What more can you ask for out of a 10w - ~57w~ platform

Current-gen AAA Games (SX/PS5): 540p @ 30-40fps most games upscaled to 1080p @ 30-40fps
Last-gen AAA Games (XBO/PS4): 720p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p @ 30-60fps
PS360/Switch AAA Games: 1080p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p-4K @ 30-60fps
Rare cases the PS360/Switch games at 1080p@120fps games like Metroid

And that’s perfectly fine, except docked mode on AAA games could become fairly blurry on large 4K displays.

Sorry, I disagree with this sentiment. The Switch 2 is a current gen machine and well above the PS4 Pro. It goes toe to toe with the Series S due to great DLSS and a modern architecture in many games. This game (Hogwarts Legacy) has always been the poorest example of what the Switch 2 can do and appears to simply be a bad port. Cyberpunk 2077 is on the other hand a great port.

for a handheld it's quite nice, but don't go in expecting a serious console. Keep your PS5 and/or PC. You can tell a huge difference in those long distance shots w the foilage/grass. But again on an 8 inch screen, I bet it looks and plays decent enough.

Neonridr2d ago

the way I look at it, the PS4 Pro still had some gorgeous games. If I could have games that looked like TLOU2 on the system, would I really care about what it would look like on a PS5? No.

OtterX2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Only on my 55" 4k do I care for that extra oomph. I would be blown away to have a game on par graphically w the PS4 Pro version of TLOU II on a handheld!

Grilla2d ago

Graphics are irrelevant if it’s not running at 60fps

anast2d ago

Switch 2 is around $450 to $700 depending on the country. Let that sink in. Get that nice '280p' Cyberpunk...

They are comparing the S to the PS4. HA!

Couldn't go 2 sentences without bringing up JK Rowling's viewpoints (which are now acknowledged and supported by the UK Supreme Court). Time for all the "progressive" whiners to latch back on to reality.
