No they haven't. Lara Croft and Tomb raider had a much larger impact on gaming. Tomb Raider has influenced far more games over 25 years than Horizon has. Also, Lara Croft was one of the first main stream female lead game characters. Aloy game in to an existence long after female leads in games had become common.

Agree.

Lara Croft is also much better looking. I vote for her.

I like Horizon and Aloy a lot but if you truly think this you must be the biggest fanboy of modern Sony to exist.

Michiel1989778d ago

not even close. Tomb Raider was technologically groundbreaking. The first female videogame mascot, sold tons of merchandising. Lara Croft kinda sexualized the female protagonist while Aloy does the exact opposite. Horizon is an amazing game but in terms of impact nowhere close to Tomb Raider because of the era they were released in.

Wtf? Lara Croft has been around for 25 years and has had a huge influence on the industry. She paved the way for tons of games and characters. You're telling me Aloy, who's only existed for 5 years, has had the same impact? Get your head out of the clouds.

Lara Croft is so iconic that even my parents who don’t play videogames know who she is. Aloy isn’t a household name…well, at least not until Sony inevitably hires Zendaya to play Aloy in the live-action film 🙄

"until Sony inevitably hires Zendaya to play Aloy in the live-action film"

It's sad how likely that sounds.

You say sad, I say awesome.

Turned based Phantasy Star and Shinning Force remain at the top of my list of Sega IPs that need to return. At the very least I'd take a Shining Force collection that has 1,2,3, CD and the Game Gear entries.

FinalBoss5d ago

I was hesitant to put these two on. I've personally played more PSO than the RPG version. And shame on me, I don't remember much about Shining Force to talk about it properly.

That said, so many Sega licences deserve their place in this list.

jznrpg3d ago

A new Phantasy Star in the numbered series would be amazing. Shining Force too. But I’d settle on some collections as that’s probably the best we will get

anast5d ago

I don't trust Sega to do a proper comeback. The games will be just remastered and/or monetized to death.

shining force.

but indont see that happening unfortunately.
