GTA5 PS5 File Size and Preload Date Revealed

The PS5 file size and preload date for GTA5 have been revealed, with the game clocking in at almost 87GB on the new-gen platform.

boing1781d ago

Oh, remaster will have performance RT mode? Nice!

MIDGETonSTILTS17781d ago (Edited 781d ago )

Well, do I really wanna dedicate 87 gb of the 667 gb SSD towards a game two gens old?

philm87781d ago

I'd suggest you do this if you want to play it.

Welshy781d ago

@phil
In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet. Obviously he has to install it if he wants to play it.

The issue is that it's alot of space to dedicate to a game that's fundamentally the same and already been played on 2 previous generations. Unless you're both a huge GTA5 addict and a stickler for performance it's not worth it imo.

philm87781d ago

@Welshy I get that mate, only so many games you can play at once so it's a bit of a pointless question. Will only take 20 minutes to install/download if you've got a decent Internet connection.

Aussiesummer781d ago

Dedicate some money towards an nvme ssd.

MIDGETonSTILTS17781d ago

Yah, I never considered throwing hundreds of dollars at the problem.

Thanks.

Visceral89781d ago

You can buy a Samsung 980 pro 1TB for $150 or cheaper on sale sometimes.

roadkillers780d ago

My comment will get downvotes, but this issue will be resolved once the cloud is more stable. The faster we move to the cloud, the less topics like this matter.

RickRoland780d ago

the cloud meaning what? streaming gaming? That will not be a viable option for a very long time.

roadkillers780d ago

It’s viable now, Xcloud on the Series S is 99% full proof

Aussiesummer776d ago

The included size is abysmal.

It's pretty bad, both next gen machines have sub-1tb storage, to dedicate a minimum of 15% of your storage to one game is ridiculous.

The whole point of the new platforms is to give devs tools to speed up and shrink their games yet they clearly just aren't doing that. It just screams of poor asset optimisation.

Cyberpunk is a total dumpster fire of a game and even they managed to reduce their file size by half on next gen.

RickRoland781d ago (Edited 781d ago )

This is why I popped a 1TB SSD into my PS5 last week. At that point where storage management is already becoming a nuisance. 2TB is pretty comfortable, 1TB or less is just not enough nowadays. I hear the PS5 version is around 10GB smaller than the X|S version though. They definitely have the compression leg up.

FPS_D3TH781d ago

It’s over 105 gbs on PC right now so they’ve compressed quite a bit if they’re adding new content/features too

FanboysKiller781d ago

That sounds like a whole new game to me , this is the real stuff that genuinely isn't for free.

ChubbyBlade781d ago

Someone doesn’t know how storage works

philm87781d ago

@Welshy The map is huge and there's a ridiculous amount of assets in the game. Should be higher res textures as well which will take up a lot of room.

Really enjoyed the single player on PS4, may be tempted to replay if it's only £10 for the single player as rumoured.

Deeeeznuuuts781d ago

Yeah, when I heard it could be £10 for the first three months that pretty much sold it for me, not played the story in a while either so be good to revisit

CrimsonWing69781d ago

Look if this substantially looks better than the PS3/Xbox 360 version I’ll bite.

Welshy781d ago (Edited 781d ago )

Of course it's going to look better, if they triple dip customers on 3 generations and it doesn't look head and shoulders above the OG launch then they have a serious issue on their hands.

Still doesn't justify a 3rd purchase of the same game imo, should 100% be a free upgrade to owners of the full game on PS4/Xbone. They make literal billions from shark cards, they can afford it.

Fishy Fingers781d ago

Watch some maxed out PC gameplay, thats what you'll be getting.

RickRoland781d ago

Is it though? They said they’re increasing population density etc. Did the pc version have higher NPC counts etc. originally?

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing694d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos4d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius3d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy854d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius3d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
