Review: Elden Ring (Sony PlayStation 5) | DigitallyDownloaded

DigitallyDownloaded writes:

With Elden Ring, we're in masterpiece territory. FromSoftware is consistently great, of course, and I don't mean to denigrate Sekiro or Dark Souls here, as they're all exceptional, but Elden Ring has all the potential to have a similar level of impact as Demon's Souls here. Spinning a richly evocative and carefully paced tale of darkness and misery, Elden Ring isn't the most easygoing game, either in terms of its storytelling or general difficulty. However, not only is it majestic in scope and vision, it is one of the most perfect examples of how an open world structure can be used to the thematic benefit of the game, rather than just be a massive space used to hurl worthless content at players. In this way, Elden Ring joins a very elite group indeed... and it has arguably topped it.

PS5 Pro Elden Ring Potentially Runs Locked 60 FPS

One of the many improvements the PS5 Pro brings to console gaming is Game Boost. Thanks to its improved GPU, older titles can get performance boosts without implementing a large update. This may be true of Elden Ring, which struggles to maintain a locked 60 frames per second on base PS5s. With Game Boost, that is potentially no longer an issue.

'may', 'potentially'... which means you don't know.

Shouldn't this be a 'opinionpiece'?!?

Prayingathiest4d ago

I read this as onionpiece , that armours so gross

Prayingathiest4d ago

This would be pretty sweet if true I'll hold my breath tho this generation has been nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Potentially next gen will be better than this gen give us real facts not maybes

Elden Ring is CPU-heavy so it really depends. The PS5 Pro has a slight CPU boost frequency that can kick in, though it downclocks the GPU. That should give a more consistent framerate but it might not be locked at 60, it'll need to be tested.

I wish From did a better job of optimizing Elden Ring in the first place. 2 and a half years later and it still is messy on all platforms.

No, Black Myth: Wukong Isn't Harder Than Elden Ring's DLC

Despite recent doubts about Black Myth: Wukong's difficulty, the overall game is much easier than Elden Ring's DLC.

Not even close. WuKong is not very difficult to me especially if you farm sparks before moving on. Some common enemies on ER are harder than some bosses on WuKong. With that being said WuKong is excellent.

seanpitt2326d ago

Yeah some aspects make it harder on the ps5
For eg fighting whiteclad noble in the water tanks the ps5 frame rate down for the teens and the water makes it a blurry mess with the frame gen there using it's horrid.. makes the fight alot more difficult

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH26d ago

That sucks and that’s why I bought it on PC. No frame rate issues for me on my 4070.

ER enemies hit harder (sometimes 1 hit), that's why. If only Wukong enemies hit as hard as ERs. Wukong Boss Fights is like a movie, and some of them are hard. That's why you say that wukong is easier because you last longer in the fight even if the boss hits you many times.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH26d ago

I say WuKong is easier because it IS easier FOR ME. ER is not very hard either compared to the Souls games.

I can see how people who are not into souls game can have a tough time playing Wukong. But if you used to souls games, Wukong is way easier.

HyperMoused26d ago

Havnt had too many problems yet..its not souls hard

SoloGamer125d ago

its not even harder than regular Elden Ring
