Xbox Game Pass Quests recently reset for the month of June. So if you try to collect as many Microsoft Rewards points as possible, there’s a new set available now.

A game that should absolutely be on this list is Disco Elysium. That game is wildly deep in the field of its take on social issues, politics, religion, morality, and the internal struggles of the human psyche.
Still haven't finished it but Disco Elysium is really great. I love the dark sense of humour.
I love dystopian settings in general. We happy few is an excellent game. It is basically a mash up of 1984 and the other dystopian classic Brave New World. The drug 'Joy' is essentially 'Soma' from Aldous Huxley's novel.
Orwell was surprisingly engrossing. I enjoyed it quite a bit more than I expected. I bought the sequel on Steam but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
Don't need a game to experience Orwell. Real life follows it pretty well.
In a recent interview with Xbox Squad, We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games talks about the impact of Xbox Game Pass on game development. In the interview, head of PR Naila Hadjas says that Xbox Game Pass doesn’t negatively impact a game’s development.
Why would it impact development tho. I can see the case for impacting sales but why would development be impacted?
Because without a primary revenue stream they have to build their games around secondary revenue streams aka Microtransactions.
@magog so the gamepass subs arent primary revenue, what is it then just some change? when we are talking about 1st party games at least. For 3rd party title they probably get a good chunk of money for them to be on there, i dont think any numbers have been released for that, but i doubt any publisher would want its game on there when they dont get any decent money for it. I also doubt they are gonna change their development pipeline just because it might be on gamepass at some point.
Their primary goal is to make good games so it incentivizes people to get subbed to gamepass, riddling your game with mtx does the oppsite. Im not that familiar with MS 1st party games, but im curious which are full of mtx? Forza is the only one i can think of.
@Magog - and yet the game they developed and put on GamePass did not have the microtransaction revenue streams you claim are the impact. Do you just say things to see if anyone buys your weak theory?

We Happy Few was an awesome concept and I was really looking forward to it, but after being delayed it was eventually AWFUL. More like We Crappy Few. A totally squandered opportunity.

We don't have enough data either way to make a case. This is a wait and see kind of a thing. Big publishers are saying for them GP don't make a lot of sense but once again we are in the early days of this service. By year 3-4 we will know a lot more
It's great for gamers if you play a lot of games. I signed up and used it for 4 months but couldn't finish one game(I am weird like that I had the same issue with gamefly) I just like to buy the game and take my time/play at my own pace. Again this is a personal weird thing. But if I was in high school without a family or other priorities than GP would be a great service for me
I think that's an excellent stance. Right now we know it's great for us the gamers but we don't have enough data to see the effects on publishers overall. We can be happy and cautious ⚠️ as to where this leads.
I'm not sure I've heard the argument that Game Pass would impact development, it's after launch where issues come to mind. However, after thinking about it, you could make the quantity over quality argument. Xbox might prefer 4 $50m titles rather than 1 single $200m title (just picking that number as Shawn Layden recently suggested that's where AAA is headed over at Sony). The $200m title would presumably be higher quality for obvious reasons.
Having said that, so far that's just speculation and if any company can afford $200m for their AAA titles, it's Xbox. That's for first party stuff, things get trickier with the 3rd party game pass stuff. Phil paid $100m to Square for ROTR 1 year exclusivity, how much is he paying for, say, MLB to launch on Game Pass? I'm sure different games will have different price tags, but where there are winners, there are likely to be losers too.
Not to mention Game Pass isn't yet profitable for Xbox, how long can that continue before something needs to change? The Xbox Live membership hike that got over turned earlier this year may hint that Phil is under some pressure from above to bring in more revenue to offset Game Pass. There may be a clock ticking.
I played it on PC and really didn't enjoy it. I didn't even finish finish the game because he was boring

I agree. We need all the perspectives we can get. As of now I haven't heard but one dev say it in a negative fashion. There could be more though. At this point it's a wait and see game. Remember each deal is different.
There's been a handful of articles over the years about how smaller developers have succeeded and value the service. Not really sure who the others are that you mention but there's still a question mark over the profitability of a bigger external title like Outriders or Back 4 Blood launching on the service.
Here is a perspective, Microsoft pays for games that want on Gamepass, if you develop a poor game, they most likely will not pay for it, and it will fail to make good sales in it's own. Send pretty straight forward. As far as in house studies eventually it will work itself out in a bad way if they are rushed.

Sad to read that "We Happy Few" is a disappointment. I own it but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I am a BIG fan of their previous game, "Contrast."
I LOVE "Anthem," but I didn't get into the game until late 2020. I put in over 900 hours into the game. It isn't perfect, but it is a masterpiece. I look forward to the eventual sequel, which I predict 3 / 4 to around the end of the PlayStation 6's lifecycle.
