Venture into this side-scrolling remastered adventure with KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series! KLONOA: Door to Phantomile and KLONOA 2: Lunatea's Veil will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on 7/8!
Really looking forward to this one. Was talking to a buddy of mine who was considering getting a switch. Let's just say his decision was made once he heard about this. I've played the first and the wii remake, but never the 2nd.
Does he have no other platforms? As it showed at the end, it'll be on PC, last gen, and current gen. Not to dissuade him from a Switch purchase, but it isn't required for this at least.
At some point, with older games, it isn't so much scalping as it is limited supply and increased demand for either playing or collecting. Retro gaming is getting more expensive by the year, but I'm not sure I'd call it scalping.
that's just it. I recall a vast majority of games were only selling 350k to around 1 million units during the PS and PS2 era. If a game hit 1 million that was special. Now a game hits 1 million and it underperformed. Simply put there weren't as many gamers in the past which means less copies available. Throw in the fact many copies got tossed in the trash, ruined, etc. Yes, re-sellers and [especially] the internet don't help matters but the fact is there is a smaller, finite supply of older games due to lower sales. These days it's not uncommon for even a niche title to sell 1 million while more successful titles are selling 5-10 million+ copies. Couple those limited supplies with a growing audience of retro gamers or those seeking to re-live their childhoods... At the same time there's still a lot of games available digitally. The original Klonoa for instance is available on PS3 digitally.
Interesting how these companies continue to remaster and re-release rare valuable games. Almost as if they come together look at old games worth hundreds of dollars and say hey people must really want this game we should release again kill the originals value and make a profit for ourselves.
It's also curious as to how that affects the old games' price as well. Certain games retain their pricey-ness given limited copies of an old product. But others, it just mangles their price.
Like XBC on Wii was shooting into the stratosphere on the 2nd hand market, then it hit the Wii eShop and the prices plummeted. You can get XBC for Wii cheaper than a used copy of XBC2 for Switch, for crying out loud. Wonder which way this one will go.
Ever since I owned number 2 on ps2 but my bros friend came over and ruined the disc before we could actually play. I've always wanted the second game re-released. Literally jaw dropped seeing this was announced. Plan on buying on ps5 and switch just to support Klonoa, may even buy on steam as well
Big time hyped for this. These are beautiful and endearing games, the second coming back is especially great to see. I just hope there is a physical release. I'll likely wait for the PS5/XSX release as the boost in resolution (HDR) and load times over Switch is likely going to be significant, but again put them both on a cart and Switch will be where I buy it.
Also big lol to those who remember the Wii-make of Klonoa 1 coming with promotions for fish taco's (wahoo's) in the box
Literally just finished the Wii remake on WIIU a couple of days ago. Lol. But stoked for the remake of the sequel. Been over a decade since I played that

Glad to see Klonoa making a return in some form.
Day 1, because I know it's good!
Nice! Glad to see Klonoa back
Yess!!
