Kingdom Hearts 3 going to the PS3 seems very unlikely now?

yes the wii is seriously underpowered compared to the 360/ps3 but it is also much more powerful than the ps2. Even the xbox and gamecube were. Personally I don't get pissed if the graphics aren't perfect as long as the gameplay is. The lead director of Kh is the same as the lead director of ffversus13. He refused to make it multiplatform (despite its counterpart being multiplatform) and he'll do the same for kh3. If you know anything about him he's somewhat of a psfanboy. Kh series is his pride and joy cuz its his first series as him being lead director. Its really not up to SE as a whole to decide its platform....it's his.

No more Heroes was his best selling title so far.

That's just ignorant to pull out spec numbers and pretend you are a rocket scientist by showing numbers that are different by 10-fold.
MHz on Paper is different, MHz is ONE factor of a processor.
The xbox had different features right out of the box, but that doesn't make the xbox more powerfull in power.
Wii is a PPC, don't forget that.
The whole Wii works very efficient, so that already could beat the xbox in horse power, in theory.

But yes the specs are lower not saying it can beat the PS3, but Wii still needs to be pushed.

Not only that, I never really liked Kingdom Hearts. The story was too childish and didn't have any depth. There was also no point to the FF characters. They played no important role whatsoever in the series.

Sorry guys, I was just arguing that the Wii is not a next gen (well current gen now) machine. The technology in it is almost 10 years old. Also PS2 had 233MHz processor, I wasn't arguing with that fact, it is clear that the Wii is more powerful than the PS2, seen as the Gamecube was more powerful than a PS2.

Reason I didn't mention the PS2 is that it is now irrelevant technologically speaking, as is Xbox 1, yet the Wii is only as powerful as an Xbox 1 or maybe a little more powerful.

On topic - This is could be a good move for Square, but they should atleast make it multiplatform to include PS2 and PS3. Most of their audience own those consoles.

EDIT- Also @sidar - I was also going to post Bus speed, and memory bandwidth (which differs immensely between consoles), but I couldn't be bothered lol.

if it is brought to the xbox360, most users, who've had a xbox than upgrade to the 360, might not know the story if they havent played the previous 2

Well i've found a few facts for you all then.

1) A troubling note for the industry - 6th generation consoles continue to outsell 7th gen consoles and show no signs of slowing. This is the first time in history a previous generation has outsold its successors.

2) Nintendo is the first company to launch 2 entirely seperate home consoles in the same generation since Atari did it in the 2nd generation.

4) Wii holds the record as the latest entry into a generation in history. The 6th gen started in 1998 with Dreamcast, and Nintendo waited until 2006 to release the Wii, making it 8 years. 5) Developers are supporting two generations of consoles with multiplatform titles, and even new exclusives, a practice that was previously quite rare.

6) The 6th gen is the longest generation in history at 10 years, and projected to last up to 15 years. The previous record was 9 years.

7) The 7th generation is on track to have the lowest sales since the 3rd gen. So far it's the most dissapointing generation in history.

It's hard to say if Versus is a spinoff. Either way, If you want to play whole FF13 "trilogy" you have to stick with Sony consoles as for now. I don't see here any lost position.

Pure speculation, with nothing to have it in! And highly unlikely! The maker of Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura san, is a known, and a huge Playstation fan. He's also the guy behind FFvsXIII, which still is PS3 exclusive. And Nomura is likely to have the last word, not Disney.

They used to make classics. Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, FF1-FFX.

But you can tell Square was losing it when you played Xenogears. They were focusing their money on the wrong stuff, which was why team Xenogears left.

Every year from then on just kept getting worse and worse for Square. Until eventually Hironobu left.

consequently, they need to always use the console with the best graphical prowess to make their main dish, FINAL FANTASY. unfortunately for squeenix and more sony, the ps3 wasn't the 2nd coming of christ outselling everything under the sun like it was propheted back in '05.

so to make up for the 3rd place install base issue, they were forced to make ff13 a multiplatform ordeal.

which is why i believe KH3 will either be wii exclusive, or ps360. wii is already popular enough and has a big enough fanbase (KH does have a younger following than FF titles), and the ps360 combined install base has shown even a crappy multiplatform game is guaranteed some sort of good sales.

I believe that the Kingdom Hearts crowd was a good mix of young and old gamers when it first came out. I know I was at least in college when I played the first game. The game has a wide appeal, and Square should get this game out on as many consoles as they can, and not limit themselves to the Wii audience imo.

Also, Kingdom Hearts games have a ton of Final Fantasy VII characters in them, Playstation branded characters. I mean from the Disney stand point it kind of makes seance but then again Disney is and always has been one of the biggest Blu-Ray supporters. So who knows?

I'm going to disagree with this article.

1) Nomura heads up Kingdom Hearts - he's a sort of Sony fan and valuable to Square - im sure he has a bit of day in the matter.

2) All major KH titles have seen release on Sony platforms, KH, KH2, ReCOM and BBS, the prequel to KH. The mobile and NDS KH's are more like spinoff's.

Now I don't doubt a Wii release, but I do doubt a Wii exclusive title.

Seeing as Nomura-san likes graphics and is in charge of the Kingdom Hearts Series I doubt it will be Wii exclusive. I mean he is the one who fought to keep FFXIII VS PS3 exclusive. Your right about Nomura which is just as big a factor in the decision as Disney which is a huge supporter of Sony and Blu-Ray. And with the holiday sales figures of BD players being as good as they are I think it's actually idiotic to think that KH3 would be going to the Wii. SE has no say over what current games go where(save remakes), the directors and creators do. Nomura created KH, he says where it goes, if they try and change that, he would probably walk(hence the reason that FFvXIII is staying on the PS3), and SE can't afford to lose a genius like him.

KH3 is staying on the PS brand, at least as far as mainline stories go. A spin-off to the Wii is prefectly plausible, any other kind of speculation is just plain retarded and really isn't looking at facts, just sales figures which for the Wii,which doesn't matter much outside of a difference outside of Japan. DQIX and DQX will do great on the Wii but only in Japan, KH3, however, will do good everywhere. Plus, Nomura isn't going to take a step backward by wanting his game on the Wii.

Its not "next gen" anymore its current gen, and all you have to do to qualify for this gen is be the next console from Sony, MS, or Nintendo, and beat last gen (Xbox) graphics, which Wii has done. KH3 and Wii is a no brainer hopefully SE can see this.

I can't see the NEXT official main story (not so much a sidequest like the DS and PSP games) appearing on anything but the PS3... I mean, sure Square would be in it for money, but why would the same dev team of KH (Advent) develop for a whole 'nother piece of equipment when it's already set up on the PS3 with FF Versus? I can't even see the head creator (blanking on name) allow that to happen...

Disney Interactive Studios + Bluray + PS3... I see it coming, whether people like it or not, the next KH's fullest potential- graphically and fan-baseily (just made that up!) is on Sony's side.

There's no saying for sure, it's all just speculation. And considering how many people are excited and hyped for Kingdom Hearts 3 it will be very disappointing to Kingdom Hearts fans if it moved to Wii. Everyone would be like, WTF?

Square Enix dont roll that way. KH3 will be 360>Wii>PS2>PSP>DS > then after all 1 year time exclusive delay it b on PS3. its simple as that.

Since so far only SO4 got a solid release date. At the same time I doubt FF13 will be seen within 2009, don't mention FFv13.

Uh, no. PS2 was 333 Mhz, not 233. Furthermore, the power is not determined solely by the clock speed, you would know that if you knew anything about what you're trying to talk about. By your logic, the Cell processor and the Xbox 360 CPU are just as fast since they are both clocked @ 3.2 Ghz. If you're going to talk about amount of cores, by your logic the PS3 Cell processor is not more powerful than a 8 core Intel @ 3.2 Ghz, when that's false either as performance tests show.

It is true that Wii is more powerful than PS2, but not for the reasons you mention, so take your ignorance elsewhere. The reasons the Wii is more powerful than the PS2 are not even related with its CPU, they are related with the fact that it has a GPU unlike the negligible graphics synthesizer on the PS2, and the amount of RAM. However, Sony actually future proofed the PS2 with the Emotion Engine and DVD, which is why you saw improvements even in its last days. The Wii is not as far from PS2 as you wish to think, fanboy.

If the Wii gets KH3, it'll be the same engine as the PS2, perhaps a bit tweaked to show more advanced effects or more characters on screen but that's basically it. Just add a little waggle to ruin the game and Square is all set to make money.

Nomura, the creator of Kingdom Hearts, is currently directing the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy versus XIII. He was quoted last year as saying "with the PS3 all dreams can come true", or something close to that. Yeah, I don't see KHWii happening.

if final fantasy 13 versus is sucess on PS3 and see sales is way better or close to final fantasy 13, then i think kingdom heart 3 is going to be exclusively to PS3.

So the way I'm reading all these post are that, the KH3 fans want it on the PS3 because of the HD?that's pretty much the only selling point, I say give it to them. Give the Wii a spin off, that wouldn't really do anything to the Wii fans since they never had it to begin with, But I hope this saves some fanboys from hanging them self, if some of you would read through all the post it seems like some are seriously pissed at SE. It's just business, but IMO Disney family fun + Wii might translate into lot of sale, that's a might not sure. KH3 for any console will be good for old or new gamers. I don't like the series but that doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a try someday. My list of game is long and SE games aren't on high priority to finish.
