Dying Light 2 Stay Human Review - IGN

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is an ambitious zombie action adventure that's packed with top-notch parkour, an awesome open world, and every painful bug in the book. Available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.

BigBosss1182d ago

oh man, was hoping it wouldn't come to this. Still gonna play it.

Kornholic1182d ago

Come to what, exactly? Dying Light 2's metascore is currently sitting at 77. The first Dying Light has a 74 metascore and it was loved by fans. So, if you loved the first one, you're probably gonna like this too.

RaidenBlack1182d ago

Also, Worth bearing in mind that this is not Anthem, Techland has already showcased a five year update cycle for the first game.
If their support for DL1 is anything to go by, this is merely a minor setback that will sort out in a few weeks or a few months time

peppeaccardo1182d ago

IGN - .. Too many Zombies 7/10 .. LOL
(Jokes aside I did love the first one and did not read the reviews of this last chapter YET but I was hoping for an higher score TBH)

Old McGroin1182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

@ BigBosss

I assume you're referring to the fact it's riddled with bugs? I'm the same. Techland made Dead Island as well. I remember getting it day one, being so excited and then it was an unplayable mess due to bugs. Swore I'd never get one of their games day one again after that. Looks like nothing has changed since then.

Name Last Name1182d ago

I can tolerate some bugs but save corruption is a no-no. I will see if the day one patch fixes most bugs or will keep waiting.

CorndogBurglar1182d ago

The devs did say not to play it before launch. Which tells me there's a big day one patch to fix some things.

Exvalos1182d ago

Play the game for yourself dont worry about reviews, but go in with a clear head. If you didnt line the first one this game will do very little to change your mind. If you did enjoy the first one then 9/10 you will come the second.

RaidenBlack1182d ago

The developers said don't play before launch, everyone should wait for the patch.

XbladeTeddy1182d ago

Well, they didn't tell that to reviewers.

RaidenBlack1182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

As some one pointed out, If the Day 1 patch is so crucial ... why dont the devs adjust the review embargo accordingly?

My_Name_is_Earl1182d ago

Or don't release it if it's not flippin done! Patch it in your damn studio!

Nitrowolf21182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

they did tell us a day one patch was coming though, as well as a number of fixes to issues that were reported. This coming from a reviewer, but yeah techland fault for cutting it close since the patch just came out

Teflon021181d ago

Doesn't matter much if they tell them. Playtonic told everyone publicly before the game released, that they were going to apply a update to fix stability in review copies like a day before release, but the reviewers didn't care and released reviews complaining about things players would never see lol. But I think it's why game embargo's should be after a game releases.Just game previews should exist before a game releases. It's nice when a dev is confident and it gets amazing reviews before release. But it's kinda bs when a game gets hell when it's released with the stuff ready

IGN's callout section on the bugs makes it sound so bad, more unstable than even Cyberpunk 2077 (the PC version though).

I'm sure eventually it'll be fixed, but some of the other things about story you're stuck with, with badass gameplay at least. This sounds like a wait-until-discounts-and-patch es situation.

smashman981182d ago

To be fair ign is one of the outlets that gave cyberpunk a glowing review at launch

EvertonFC1182d ago

"eventually" thats the problem with these open world games, it's always best to wait 3/6 months and play it how it was intended imo of course.

Tacoboto1182d ago

This reviewer didn't review Cyberpunk and his review history calls out plenty of games in the byline for bugs (D&D, Sable, Oddworld, now this)

senorfartcushion1181d ago

Funny how soft IGN is on AAA games. The review (like Cyberpunk’s) sounds worse than a 7/10. But they just can’t fine any lower can they. Probably need the advertising too much

EvertonFC1182d ago

It's why I've always waited until after release for reviews, that way you get the day 1 patch review and not just some kno* who's rushed through the game in 5mins and thinks they have an opinion lol.

Silly Mammo1182d ago

I'll be playing Horizon and then Elden Ring before Dying Light 2. Hopefully they will have ironed out most of the bugs by then.

jznrpg1182d ago

That’s was always my plan , I don’t care about reviews so much . I enjoyed the first game so I’ll play this after Elden Ring Forbidden West

AspiringProGenji1182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

But they gonna be fine taking people’s money day one. Why not delay the game by a month? Especially in a packed month like this one…

Sgt_Slaughter1182d ago

That's not acceptable, no one should launch a game unfinished.

Inverno1182d ago

Some dramatic people in here over a 7 lol

-Foxtrot1182d ago

It's the fact it's been hyped to the high heavens, delayed and despite that a ton of bugs still.

Inverno1182d ago

That's modern gaming for ya

Ethereal1182d ago

Just like most AAA releases these days. Pick up in a couple of years on sale for $15 for the complete, patched, and all DLC experience.

FPS_D3TH1182d ago

Game is about as ambitious as Skyrim and will be supported for 5+ years. Wait for day 1 patch and the game would be a solid 8-9. That’s hardly close to a bad game lol

CorndogBurglar1182d ago

The devs said to not play it before launch. So one can reasonably assume there is a day one patch to fix some of these bugs.

jznrpg1182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

Halo had a lot of issues and still has some but got mostly 9s and tens . Some devs get harsher reviews than others no doubt .

IGN 7/10
GameInformer 9.5/10
PCGamer 8.4/10
PushSquare 7/10
The Guardian 4/10
GamesRadar 7/10
PasteMagazine Low Review
CNET Mid Review
VGC Mid Review
PCGamesN Mid-Low Review
Kotaku Mid High Review
Eurogamer Mid High Review
GameSpot In Progress however they seem to be mid-low so far based on first thoughts

Really disappointed to hear this after so many delays and years of development...was definitely hyped after DL1. First let down of 2022 and hopefully the last. I'm sure some will enjoy it for the parkour however the story is already set in place and that seems to be the big gripe apart from countless bugs. Was really hoping for a good story with the choices mechanic but it sounds dull. Buy, sell, skip? I'd say honestly wait for a sale unless you are a hardcore fan. Probably $40 if the story really is that dull. You'll certainly want to skip launch and wait for the bug patches to roll out based on what many reviewers are saying (somewhere between Warzone and Fallout level bad in terms of bugs). Hope they can fix the bugs quick and keep the content coming, seems like this game will be more of an open box sandbox for friends.

gangsta_red1182d ago

Oof, looks like this game will definitely be a GameFly rental.

I'm still going to give it the benefit of the doubt because I loved part one.

Michiel19891182d ago

If you want a proper review dont go to those outlets, find a youtuber/streamer who has similar tastes as you and see what they think about the game. They will probably go way more in depth than any of these big outlets and will actually give you what you look for in a review. Also a review number has nothing to do with how much you might or might not enjoy the game. I still dont get why people get so worried or riled up about review scores.

Ashunderfire861182d ago

Like ACG I am going to watch his review, and he is not influence by corporate sponsored bullcrap. I will definitely buy this game, because I love the first game, and it plays like the first game anyway. Alien Isolation when it was released back in 2014, Ign give it a Meh 5.0, but Gamespot love the game so much it got a 9.0. An that game end up getting an Award from the British Gaming Award show(Forget the name, but its the Oscars for gaming).

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

got_dam91d ago

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.

Both Resistance games will be "streaming only"

JEECE167d ago

So unfortunate. I'd subscribe to premium in a heartbeat if I could play Resistance: FoM for real on there. But game streaming is and always will be trash.

OtterX167d ago

I wish the Portal would do PS+ Streaming. I really want to play these handheld on it. :\

MrBaskerville167d ago

I wish they would release them properly. But have been playing Ratchet and Clank games om streaming and it works pretty well these days, where I live atleast, so will probably give them a shot regardless.

Knushwood Butt167d ago

Guess I'll be trying streaming for the first time then.

darthv72166d ago

Until they remaster PS3 games properly for play on the 4/5... I keep my 3 hooked up for just these situations.
