I think Guerrilla games and Polyphony Digital need to utilize the technology because HFW clocks in at almost 100 GB on PS5 and GT7 is nearly 90 GB without any day one patches. Thank God I grabbed an expandable SSD.

Yeah still remember all the blow back against Sony about the smaller ssd size. In actuality the compression would save space to compensate for it and people would be able to upgrade later. To add, with the new unreal engine being able to have 8k files etc makes the compression a big deal.

The stock drive would be big enough if everyone actually utilised the compression, but when you have first party games like Forbidden West tipping almost 100gb you'd have to question if everyone is making the most of the tech. I have no doubt FW will be a monster, but 4 times as big as DL2?

It could be more than compression. Ray Tracing is real-time so no need to store light maps/shadow maps/etc.

Ssd is so nice, I had a slow computer then I went to a ssd laptop bruh that thing was instant amd that waiting and frustration went away. Heard ssd was around for multiple decades in certain ways.

Oh yeah, if you have a mechanical drive, an SSD is an instant fix for windows being slow as hell, even just the boot up alone is like 10x faster.
