PS5, Xbox, or Switch: Which Has the Biggest Game of 2022?

IGN: "Welcome back to Next-Gen Console Watch, our show following all the news and rumors on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. I'm Seth Macy, and this week I'm joined by Ryan McCaffrey, host of IGN's Xbox podcast, Podcast Unlocked, and Jonathon Dornbush, host of IGN's PlayStation podcast, Podcast Beyond. This week we indulge in the console race a bit, making a case for PlayStation, Nintendo, or Xbox "winning" 2022. We'll look at some of the biggest titles from the big three, such as Horizon Forbidden West, Starfield, and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2! We'll also take a look at poll results. Be nice in those comments, okay?"

I dont believe for a second Starfield is going to make it out this year. So working through a backlog and 3rd party Gamepass releases will be keep me busy with Xbox until they get something out next year. It's looking mostly bleak for their exclusives line up in 2022 I think.

Nintendo is worse. I genuinely don't think there's anything I'm looking forward to on Switch this year.

Sony have a huge year ahead. Or at least they do for the next number of months anyway.

In general though there's a lot of multiplatform heavy hitters coming this year to keep everyone happy

Depends, hard to say unless we know if certain titles are going to come this year. With Sony, Horizon and GoW 2 will be tough to top. Nintendo's only hope is BOTW 2.

I don’t know about Sony or MS, but Nintendo is having it’s biggest release year of core titles since since 2017.
Pokémon Arceus
Bayonetta 3
3D Kirby
Mario + Rabbids
Splatoon 3
BOTW 2
Now what does “biggest” mean here? Is it sales? Reviews? System sellers?…. File size? 😛

Biggest means most sales except for mobile game sales. We don’t talk about mobile.

Kinda depends what sort of games you like. I'm looking forward to Forbidden West, GT7 and God of War Ragnarok the most.

After how 2021 turned out I think this question is still way too early. Horizon and Ragnarok were both originally '21 titles. Starfield in November seems unrealistic. Three of the most raved titles of last year weren't announced until E3 - Guardians of the Galaxy, Metroid Dread, and Forza Horizon 5.

If we get all Ragnarok, Horizon, GT7, and Factions 2... and TLOU 1 Remake, and TLOU2 native, and PSVR2, that's unbeatable. A Sunset Overdrive port would be a great quality filler. Bloodborne in 60fps, that has to exist somewhere for them.

But that list of titles for Switch from Cuzizkool (especially if one of the dozen Metroid Prime rumors comes true) would also be incredible.

If Xbox gets its announced titles of Starfield, Redfall, and Stalker 2, plus Forza Motorsport finally (or at least chunky DLC for FH5), Hellblade 2, a Hivebusters-quality expansion for Halo Infinite, a surprise release from their dozens of studios now, all for a $15 price-of-entry, that's also undoubtedly exciting to possibly get.
