Crytek is pleased to confirm a new Crysis game is in development

Avni Yerli:

To everyone in our amazing Crysis community, and to all fans of the franchise all around the world: we have a special announcement to make, just for you.

It’s something you have been asking us for a long time, so it’s now finally time to confirm – yes, the next Crysis game is happening!

SinisterMister1237d ago

Heck yes. Crysis 3 was way ahead of its time. Crysis 4, if the rumors are true, is going to be tip-top.

RaidenBlack1237d ago

Crysis 3 still looks soo good!

PrinceOfAnger1236d ago (Edited 1236d ago )

It was the best looking game in the ps3 generation alongside crysis 2007 and warhead really pushed tech and graphics to a whole new level hope crysis 4 do the same and be Next Gen Only.

RaidenBlack1237d ago

Awesome, news!
CryEngine 6, lets go! Path tracing lets go! 🤞

ToddlerBrain1237d ago

Ray tracing*. Path Tracing isn’t real-time (yet). Requires too lengthy of a calculation.

RaidenBlack1237d ago

I know ... hence the Crossed fingers.
Since they always push the bar for visuals, I deliberately typed Path-tracing instead of RT.

darthv721236d ago

The news is great and all but i guess I'm the only one holding out hope for a Ryse 2.

RaidenBlack1236d ago

I doubt Ryse 2 will happen ... but I do want a single-player game based off of the Hunt Showdown world.

PrinceOfAnger1236d ago

There are news that Ryse 2 is in development and will be multiplatform ,crytek did say back in 2016 that they will focus on premium IPs

CoNn3rB1237d ago

Looks at my PC, "I'm sorry little one"

MadLad1237d ago

Glad to see.
They've always kind of struggled as a developer. The Hunt was amazing, but didnt find much of an audience. I was worried it was the end of the studio.

RaidenBlack1237d ago

Hunt is still amazing.
And kinda funny that the upcoming CoD MW'22 is rumored to feature a Hunt-like mode as well.

DF Direct: Crysis 4's uncertain future is a grim portend for the industry

Crysis 4 is "on hold" and Crytek is facing layoffs - so what does that mean for the company that was once Germany's biggest games dev + the industry as a whole?

I really want to see a Crysis 4 with all the ray-tracing & path-tracing effects. It would be a shame if they canceled the project. Maybe they could do a kickstarter?

DF
" Crysis is something of a tentpole game series for us at Digital Foundry, with a reputation for being an early adopter of graphics technologies that would later define entire generations of PC and console video games. That includes the likes of screen-space ambient occlusion, sub-surface scattering and ray-marched volumetric lighting, but you could write volumes about just how ground-breaking that first game was "

isarai117d ago

I really hope they come out and push the industry forward like they used to. I miss old crytek

PrinceOfAnger116d ago

They all look disappointed by this news especially Alex

JEECE115d ago

Pretty sad that the studio that gave us a monumental game like Crysis is now subsisting on microtransactions from a live service PVPVE game.

Crytek went so overboard on the Crysis tech and sent devs to photograph leaves in Haiti

"The shader work that came out of this was mind-blowing at times."

RaidenBlack159d ago

Amazing, often misunderstood
The dumb AI was deliberate, so that the players can explore and experiment with the world and all the features.

vTuro24158d ago

It really is. Most people only remember it for its graphics but the gameplay was equally amazing.

RaidenBlack159d ago

Hope they try to pour nearly same amount of dedication to the new Crysis 4

DefenderOfDoom2159d ago

Well worth the extra work ! I enjoyed all 3 Crisis games and would also love a new one .

JunonZanon158d ago (Edited 158d ago )

Still wish game development was overall this passionate and minutious about their projects. Obviously, there are still some great studios as exceptions.

LikAChicken158d ago

I’ll never forget Far Cry 2 and the amount of details they packed in.

Yea there were some issues with the gameplay loop and the sickness aspect but you could tell they really tried to nail details.

DivineHand125158d ago

I haven't beaten the first Crysis but I did play Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. I know some PC players were annoyed by the last 2 games being developed with consoles in mind but I believe it was an improvement. I had a great time with Crysis 3 to the point where I believe it was too short.

Crytek Gives Brief Update on New Crysis Game; Studio Has a "Great Team" Working on It

Crytek gives an update on their new Crysis game, confirming that it's still in development, with more to share down the road.

DefenderOfDoom2560d ago

Actually would love a new Crysis campaign.

P_Bomb560d ago

Ditto. Ran through them again last year. I’ll grab the new one.

Crazyglues560d ago (Edited 560d ago )

Yeah they really messed up by not adding the Multi-player to the Crysis Triogly because while the campaign was fun I really loved the Multi-player and couldn't wait to see what it was going to be like on current gen.

They could have dropped new maps and DLC and fans would have bought it up... -But they dropped the ball and did just the Campaign's with no new content or story, which was just crazy.

Anyway still hoping Crysis 4 is the whole Chicken Sandwhich with all the toppings.... Can't wait.

PrinceOfAnger560d ago (Edited 560d ago )

Yeah It will probably be 5 years development

SimpleSlave559d ago (Edited 559d ago )

That's awesome. So how long till the studio closes and everyone gets fired?

Series S owners: "but can it run crysis doh?"
