Sniper Elite 5 Will Launch Day One On Xbox Game Pass

One of the best deals in the market keeps getting better.

SinisterMister819d ago

Ah, Xbox Game Pass... the gift that keeps on giving.

SurgicalMenace819d ago

Because, otherwise, you wouldn't be willing to pay for it.

tbagmonster819d ago

yeah cause 10 dollars a month for 350 games is such a bad deal

Such needles hate

SurgicalMenace819d ago

No, you research the game, then YOU purchase it. This is the way that the industry cycle works. It's the sustainable nature of any successful market.

Actually, an asset sheet measures what is owned not accessed. This is how true value is assessed. Access is only an easement allowed based on certain conditions.

Ownership nullifies said conditions and allows one to set their own terms. It's better known as freedom.

Furthermore, proper research is done by analyzing the data. If GP was so great, MS would not have pay companies to put their games on the service. I digress, as most are too blinded by the limits of their own pockets.

Note: Buying power will always trump access.

@Witchcraft

100% agreed, this notion that you have to own something in order to enjoy it is such an archaic way of thinking, especially when it comes to media such as video games.

I've personally enjoyed more games through rental services like Gamefly and Game Pass, games I would have never purchased or tried through lack of interest or other financial obligations. But also extremely surprised by how much fun I had with most of the game I tried out through the service on a whim.

@XianDu
Yes, we've been hearing about this increase since Game Pass launched in 2017. It probably will go up in price as everything in life does, but the amount of games offered will still be cheaper than if you bought each one individually.

Imortus_san819d ago

I wouldn't, but since it's on Gamepass I will give it a go.

MS buying Bethesda and Activision is not a show of power anymore than it is a need to remain relevant. If they didn't buy them, they would fade even more. Sony doesn't have to spend on this level because throughout previous generations, they've been building their stable of quality developers. There's a difference between buying to show power and buying to keep up. MS is the latter of the 2 options.

I'll happily give this a try. Didn't like SE3 or 4 or zombie army. Starting to come around to gamepass but still won't pay full price for it. But it's now the digital blockbuster for me.

starsi360819d ago

One full month of Gamepass is cheaper than 2 coffees and a cake at Starbucks.
If you don’t think that’s value then maybe gaming isn’t for you x

ocelot07819d ago

Oh gaming is for me. I rather do the thing I have been doing for many many years. Dev makes good game. I reward buy buying the game.

I just pre ordered Elden Ring. Also ordering Dying Light 2 in a few days. Horizon am getting for my birthday.

I don't like subscriptions for games. It's ok when Microsoft keep throwing me £1 a month gamepass that's all good it's only a pound.

SurgicalMenace819d ago

If you can't afford the company's asking price, perhaps gaming isn't for you. I've got a Series X, but do not subscribe to GP because I like buying my games. The gaming industry is something I love enough to put my money into.

GP is the bargain bin, and my personal taste is often found on the top shelf. The full price is good for the industry, but MS's community isn't willing to play by those terms. Enters, Gamepass.

Flawlessmic819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

Nice to hear, shame there is no release date though.

Didnt mind sniper elite 3 so will defs give it a go once its out.

MadLad819d ago

And I'll be playing it day one.
I usually wait until a sale or two before I buy games nowadays, but gamepass has thrown a lot of content I've been interested in at release.

MIDGETonSTILTS17819d ago

Another example of how Game Pass is the Netflix for games….

Some people would be happy with this sorta content. Others like myself would rather replay a better game than spend 20 minutes trying a Sniper Elite sequel.

spicelicka819d ago

Just because you would rather replay another game doesn't make this content any less valuable or make anyone less happy. I could replay a "better" game AND also try this game, or I could not try it at all. But knowing that it's there for me to play is better than being forced to replay old games and comfort myself that I'm happier.

MIDGETonSTILTS17819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

I’m glad your happy with Game Pass. I just wish they didn’t double the price of Live to push me towards it, because I’d rather save sub money for a day-one purchase of my quarterly new game (a game I vetted to be worth my money AND time. I’m not the type to check off colorful markers in every AC game. There’s better content out there.)

spicelicka817d ago

But at the same time they purposely left big loopholes to make it dirt cheap to subscribe. I bought 3 12 month Xbox live subscriptions for $60 each, redeemed them and upgraded to Gamepass ultimate for $1. I split it with a friend and basically paid $90 for 3 years of gamepass, even one game purchase covers it. I do get the issue with the Xbox live price increase it should be free by now, most popular MP games nowdays are free to play anyway.

Glad I waited. They really went to town with the price gouging on this one. What did they think they were making? A fighting game?

As if!

I really hope this one is a fully stealthy approach mission. So far, most of the missions try extremely hard to push you towards having to run and gun at some point in one or more of their map goals. But they say this is a stealthy mission, so it would be great to see that happen similar to the previous games.

Abnor_Mal292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

Currently playing the main game, they have certainly ramped up the patrolling guards of the game and even on hunting. When the alarm sounds it’s almost impossible to get away or hide effectively. The guards have super sight and will hunt you down for a long while. Even after the alarm is over and the investigation is done the patrolling guards continue to hurry about.

Which leads to a more run and gun approach and bullying your way through the level because of the guards staying on high alert after every thing goes back to normal. The silenced pistols make a lot of noise apparently cause guards a good distance from your location will hear it and come to investigate. Taking out alarm with silenced shots still causes an alert, shooting generations to mask your shot will make guards come to your location.

Alll of that is just playing on normal/medium, thankfully I’m almost done, currently on mission eight. One more mission and then the closing mission ten which I’ve heard is really short and you can’t move about, it’s just to finish the game with a final shot.

I’ll look into possibly getting the dlc for the game as it’s a good game and excellent shooter regardless of my minor gripe.
