I remember playing Resi 7 on PSVR and I got about 30 minutes into it before that bit where Jack grabs you from behind and spins you around, I jumped out of my chair back first onto the floor, all I could hear through the headset while I was lying there was Jack murdering Ethan. From that point on I decided that maybe I'm not brave enough for Resi 7 VR ;-;

Yeah this is true. Majority of the other horror games were going the action route in the ps3/360 era.

it literally says 'Survival Horror' and Survival Horror does not necessarily = first person horror.

what type of game is RE7? third person? not sure if youve played the RE7(it doesnt seem so), but its a first person horror game. now that i think of it, PT might be closer, but outlast was actually executed. RE7 would of stuck to another horrible third person view if it wasnt for both of those games.

So, let me get this straight.

You think that, because this article posits that RE7 revived survival horror (in general mind you, not JUST first person horror) that it MUST be talking about first person horror, therefore its actually OUTLAST that revived the 'first person horror genre', as you put it.

Survival Horror =/= First Person Horror necessarily, and you seem to be struggling to separate the two.

Here let me make it simple for you, since youre having a hard time. RE7 is first person horror game(you can google this). Decent game. PT completely reinvented the horror genre and created a first person inspiration. Unfortuantely PT never released. Outlast did release with tons of success and give life to horror due to the first person experience. RE7 capitalized and came out to be ok. PT single handedly revived horror, it was an absolute senesation. I can almost guarantee that RE7 would not exist without PT and that was just a demo, not even a full game(you can google this as well).

The article is uninformed either way. Amnesia, Alien Isolation, and Outlast came before RE7. If anything, RE7 copied them in the best ways.
