Only because most people don’t know how to identify elites. We have people in America asking to “drain the swamp” while voting Republican and Democratic voters treating Trump as the only conservative politician and their personal 9/11, while voting for Joe Biden, who has done as much damage as Trump.
At this point, the two party system in The US is an elitist movement. Normal people have nothing to gain.
@guy Some people can’t function on their own and need to be ruled over. The recent thread about E3 had an abundance of compliant boot lickers lol. For example.
@senor The whole 2 party sports team circus is an illusion. There is one party in DC and they screw everyone over. The media and corporations are their weapons for the gullible in question. The only way to win is not to play.
Play Mario or Zelda or something like it, would be my advice to the writer. Some games are not made for everyone to emotionally and/or intellectually handle.
“No Russian”, yes absolutely too far. There is no option that lets you stop the wholesale slaughter. The whole mission felt like shock value for the purpose of generating publicity.
The KKK in RDR2 was not going to far. Just ridiculous to criticize this. Don’t whitewash history.
By my experience if you left the KKK alone, they’d just bungle up and kill themselves. Squished by a cross for example. I just saw them as little skits.
In "No Russian" there is literally an option that lets you skip it. I love things that genuinely shock you, but this one was obviously not for the faint-hearted.
I agree with the general idea, but you have a mistake. In the first version of the game, you couldn't skip the level. After the reactions, a warning message was added first, and then the update for skipping the episode came.
***SPOILERS*** . . . . . . . . . . I won’t lie, I was so surprised when my guy committed suicide at the end. Not saying they went too far. This article just made me remember being in a little shock seeing the credits role after he did it. Fuck up ending to a fucked up story. Must play!
Bioshock infinite had some sneaky borderline racist moments that I feel weren’t necessary. For example, giving you the option to throw a baseball at a interracial couple. During the scripted event it never goes that far. It’s the fact that they give you a choice that I found unnecessary.
You do realize that was there to set up the entire narrative, right?
Infinite's world is a little time capsule of early America. It hit on asians, the Irish, blacks, and even those with mental impairments. It was meant to show this was a highly racist society.
And it gives you the choice, only to stop you; and it's at the player's choice whether or not to proceed, and it spends the entire game trashing you if you are someone who would be of that mindset.
The presence of the topic of racism doesn't mean it's promoting racism. That is an extremely counterproductive perspective if you're confusing those things. I believe that mentality has worsened relationships between races considerably. We need more focus on rational thought about topics and less on trying to get offended and claiming victimhood.
Not allowing you to participate in that sequence in Bioshock does not give you the same uneasy feeling of actually putting you in that uncomfortable position, which allows you to reject that repugnant behavior rather than just watching a cut scene about it.
I remember when Dante’s Inferno raised some eyebrows for a trophy/cheevo where you had to kill 20 unbaptized babies. I guess anything with kids can potentially get controversial. Fast forward to Visage where the kid in the intro gets…well you’ll see.
The fight in the theater where it forced you to do certain things against Ellie as a psychopath I despised was pretty revolting. I stopped my second playthrough on the harder setting right before that point and haven't played it since.
I mean honestly not everyone is emotionally prepared for things that they see unnecessary to the story like out of place violence or nudity, so just skip those games, It's not like we live in the dark ages, there's sites that are specific to tell you what you would see!
And choice is not a bad thing, everyone were celebrating Undertale because it let's you play your way, video games events are not real events!
"But the fact that the game gives you the freedom to do nothing is a few steps out of bounds."
Freedom is hated by many around the world.

Some of these are just reality, acting like reality or parts of history doesn't exist is not the "right" thing to do

Good old 80’s & 90’s too far wasn’t far enough unless you made news headline and got suit 🤷🏿😂
