Far Cry 6 Proves That the Franchise Is in Desperate Need of Reinvention

Far Cry 6 is another competent installment in Ubisoft's long-running franchise, but the game's lack of growth shows the franchise is stuck in a rut.

all of the triple a sequels that come out yearly and have added nothing in terms of game play and story worth playing are in need of a major reinvention. that goes for asscreed call of duty far cry battlefield and all the rest where you know its more of a cash grab rather than the release of a worth while game.

The whole narrative since Far Cry 6 came out is that the formula is starting to get repetitive. And I'm sure there's true to that, but also I feel this game was just sloppily made. Far Cry 5 and even New Dawn were way more enjoyable than this in my opinion. It's more than just the formula getting stale, they didn't put nearly the same effort into crafting Far Cry 6 as they did with Far Cry 5. With Far Cry 6, I just find myself confused all the time, the AI is bad and sometimes buggy, I like trying to be stealthy but this game makes it impossible. Seems like I always end up in random wild shootouts with enemies seemly appearing out of nowhere and shooting me from all directions. This game was just badly made and it's a shame because I do like the setting and visually it looks pretty cool.

Hmmm... total redistribution of the perks system both hidden and thought the gui.
New ways to get vehicles and vehicles with new abilities to the series.
New ways to detect, locate, disable, so many easter egg abilities
New Guerrilla operations Missions for local resource procurement
And gee... the continuation post game Insurgency? I mean come on.

I think it went up a notch just fine and there absolutely is more to that list.

Reinvention? It's Far Cry. We are here for the Far Cry and like an old Namco Time Crisis game, each one and its spin off in-between gets a little tweak and new addition. This game got a huge one. Somehow you missed it.

Have to agree with you. There's been some great additions to make this game different in a good way. One of the main things I've noticed is that everything that you do & see within the world seems to have meaning. Its a little hard to explain in words but it feels like the world isn't just made up and things placed in random spots or exploration realy pays off, enemies AI is much better within this world too.

Having a blast. I'll admit that I swing from game to game and don't just play it straight through from end to end but every time I do load it up I'm straight back into the action and having fun.
Well, that it till I face off with a tank whilst I'm on foot. I still haven't worked out how to take it down efficiently yet as I've usually fired off my rockets at the overhead chopper and it's always recharging lol.

It's a good game with alot if fun to be had within it.

Doubt that Ubisoft cares. On to the next Far Cry copypasta.

Rachel_Alucard840d ago

The whole company and its copy paste formula needs reinvention.

HankHill840d ago

It'll never change until the sheep stop buying Ubisoft's repetitive games.

This. Last time Assassin's Creed took a hit to sales, they stepped back and took some time to make some changes, mostly for the better.

Played and enjoyed Far Cry, Far Cry 3 and 4 campaigns .

4 wasn’t so bad

Pagan Min was pretty entertaining

Skuletor41d ago

Yeah, 4 was good, was hard choosing which Golden Dawn member to side with, when they were both pieces of sh!t.
I've beaten all the main entries except 2 and 6, ended up uninstalling 6 to download something else instead.

I'd love a far cry pack with the original PC game (not the half assed port on ps360) instincts, predator even a port of far cry 2 to modern consoles back when these games had their own identity and weren't far cry 3 cut and pastel

Demetrius41d ago

Still one of my most favorite franchises along with assassins creed

banger8841d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Same here, I don't know why these games get so much hate. I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them, with only a couple of exceptions. I wish they'd hurry up and announce Far Cry 7. The only thing I'm concerned about is the rumoured time limit.

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.
