You’ll be hard pressed to find a better looking beat ‘em up than Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!, but visuals alone aren’t enough to make it a great game.
CCG writes - "Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a cartoony beat ‘em up based off of the popular French comic and cartoon series known as Asterix. In this fun allusion to those, you fight for your village against the Romans, but instead of using swords or spears, you put to use the things that you always have available to you: your hands. You’ll smack your way through 6 different acts in this action-packed game."
XBA says: The titular heroes fight back against the Roman Empire in this hand drawn adventure.
"Asterix is a beloved French comic book character who has seen numerous movie and video game adaptations. While most of the recent games have been 3D affairs, Microids’ newly released Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a side-scrolling 2D beat ‘em up. Even if you’ve never read an Asterix comic or seen one of the movies, this game is worth a look for its lovely cartoon-style visuals, humorous story, and, of course, 2-player local co-op," says Co-Optimus.
Shame that a game made by japanese people 30 years ago is still better than this game made today by french people. It's not terrible, just passable, but could (and should)'ve been so much better.
Oh well, at least I got it for free, albeit with no french dubbing.
