Switch Big Black Friday Winner, Xbox Series on Par or Ahead of PS5 - Preliminary Estimates

The VGChartz sales team has crunched some early numbers to come up with preliminary worldwide hardware estimates for Black Friday week, the week ending November 27.

Not a surprise is that the Nintendo Switch was the big winner for the week with sales on par or slightly below when compared to Black Friday 2020.

Xbox Series X|S sales were either on par with or slightly ahead of the PS5 for the week.

Looks like the series S was a good decision. Easier to build which allows for more to be sold. The Switch has been killing it from the start so no surprise there.

I guess parents are going for the series S if they can't get a series X to not disappoint on Xmas day with no console at all? Just my thought anyway 😄

You’re actually very correct despite the downvotes. Desperate parents will come away with some gaming hardware, whatever’s left. They will buy it. Even the switch. Also, these companies can’t count on demand today being there tomorrow. That’s why stock issues can hamper a launch. Game consoles are not fungible to us, but to parents they are, and with stock issues they have to be, because it’s better than showing up empty-handed on Christmas in many cases. Not everybody can pay scalper prices, and a switch lite is probably in stock, popular, and 200 bucks.

No dude, the reality is that the news that it smash the competition was a big fat lie. Even being available everywhere and cheaper it's not the console that sold more. That's says it all. Now I'm waiting for the comments of two genius that were bashing my comment last week.... It's really number one isn't.... And by far. It really broke records...

The S is a good little starter system so im sure there will be lots of happy gamers this xmas. Especially if they all get on the gamepass train.

It all boils down to the inferior little kid Series S. It is available everywhere, especially in Europe. It is even on Sale in Switzerland selling at 270 CHF down from 300 CHF. on the other hand, PS5 & XSX are NO where to be found.

Yeah, my girlfriend was going to buy me a Series S. Took a while to make her understand why I don't want her wasting money on it for me.

XbladeTeddy51d ago

Of course Switch was the winner, they're everywhere, it's still a nightmare getting a Series X and you can forget finding a PS5.

Mr_Luke51d ago

It was clear that the switch was selling a lot. And it was clear that, if someone wanted to get a new console that wasn't a Switch, would buy the only one available (since the Series S is literally everywhere with many promotions).
So nothing new here.
