Aaand now I need a refund. I didn’t drop $100 for this game to die a year after release like V.

You have all of the sports-games money, get your shit together EA. There’s no excuse for you of all companies consistently shipping betas as games.

CantThinkOfAUsername1297d ago

Their problem is neither money nor time. They simply lack talent, and that goes for a lot of AAA studios. This industry has been leaking more talent than it's filling over the years.

justadelusion1297d ago

That and most of them the past 2-3 years have not been hiring based on actual resume, skill and experience anymore. Just ticking off diversity boxes instead.

PapaBop1296d ago

DICE still have a lot of talent, the problem lays with the higher up and that EA's design decisions seem to be dictated by their marketing departments. 128 Player counts is an easily marketable slogan but in reality it hasn't really improved the experience at all or taken the series into the next generation in style. I don't think it's a bad game but most of the newly implemented features are detrimental to the classic Battlefield formula.

senorfartcushion1297d ago

Games as a service are bad. The only way to take part nowadays is to not take part.

It’s a shame. We should be able to buy and enjoy these types of games without issue, but the companies involved in making them are only making them to screw over people, be it in the service of it (less modes, less time spent on the games, more time to update instead of create from the get go.) or the monetisation.

The only thing that will happen is that 2042 will die and the next Battlefield will be a free to play game that releases in “beta.” I.e release unfinished and called a beta.

Ash01Live1297d ago

Holy crap. I honestly think Sony and Microsoft should handle this the same as cyberpunk, refunds, no questions asked.

GamingManiac1297d ago

I tried, but Sony said fuck you (not in those words)

Proexposed1297d ago

Same as me Sony said once you downloaded the game you can’t get a refund I hate Sony customer service I need to stop buying third party games on that platform just buy exclusives.

lodossrage1296d ago

For me it was totally different.

When someone bought Call of Duty black ops 3 on my account and downloaded it, I got in touch with Sony and they refunded me and took the game out of my account.

The reason for that although it was downloaded, it was never played. If you PLAY the game (I'm assuming) then you don't get the refund.

Crazyglues1297d ago

_And this is why I didn't buy the game, I thought because of DICE fail track record I will wait for reviews, you sure as hell are not getting nothing special for Pre-ordering, so I'll just wait, so glad I did, because just as I thought it would, it indeed did launch broke and will probably stay broke for awhile most likely... (DICE Track record)

Always check reviews, that's what this site kept telling me, so this time I decided to wait... Also I felt the beta was pretty bad for a battlefield game, looked awesome, but felt awful compared to BF3 and Bad company 2, shooting was just off, I didn't care what I was doing and didn't care about how many kills I got, and didn't care if the team was pushing forward or if I was dropping supplies... Game was just not fun, and if you bored playing the beta, I didn't have high hopes for the finally game... oh well the DICE we knew and loved that use to making amazing battlefield games seems to be long gone..

seanpitt231297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

No surprise there.. this game is not a BF game and 3 to 4 years of dev time for this..this game will be dead within the year people are going to get sacked

theHunter Call of the Wild is the best hunting game ever made. I understand it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it can be really slow going. But the environments (they look phenomenal, especially for a 2017 game!), the satisfaction of finally landing a Gold or a Diamond keep you coming back for more. I have over 600 hours in it, my dad in his 70's has around 1,500 in it! The only game he plays, even bought a PS4 Pro for it back in 2019 lol We get on almost every week to catch up bc we live about 4,000 miles apart overseas. New Snowy Canadian map is coming out this next Tuesday. I highly recommend this one! 👍

**I'm really happy to see Eiyuden Chronicles on here. I was about to buy that one after replaying the Suikoden Remasters recently!

jznrpg3d ago

How’s the ballistics in the game? If it’s done well I may check it out.

OtterX2d ago

they've gotten better with some updates throughout the years, but I wouldn't say they are perfect. But they're good enough that it's still a lot of fun. If you hang around their discord a while, you'll see quite a number of avid real life hunters who are pleased enough.

andy853d ago

Yeesh. Pretty awful tbh and the PS premium support is shocking

repsahj3d ago

They should combine the premium and extra subscriptions and use the extra pricing for it.

OtterX2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Yea, that was my biggest complaint. If it weren't for my Portal, I would have cancelled my Premium. But it looks like they've leaned in on the streaming aspect as a selling point of Premium now, instead of the Classics. :\ I do like the streaming on Portal!

Npugz73d ago

Ps plus extra has been garbage this year

KwietStorm_BLM3d ago

Firebreak has been surprisingly fun. Can't wait for the full game. And Deus Ex!

Vince Zampella: Battlefield "Absolutely Can" Outsell Call of Duty; BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Battlefield franchise boss thinks Battlefield "absolutely can" outsell Call of Duty, but says they're not targeting that with the next entry.

TheNamelessOne270d ago

Feel like if that were true, we would have seen it during the BF3/4 era. Just focus first on releasing a Battlefield that's actually feature complete, well put together, that people actually want to play right out of the gate. Hoping Zampella can make this happen.

JEECE270d ago

The best opportunity was BF1 vs. Infinite Warfare. I've never actually seen a worldwide sales comparison so I'm not convinced BF1 didn't eventually win, but I do know COD sold better in the US at launch, because it was the NPD #1 that year, while BF was #2.

SonyStyled270d ago

The best opportunity was with BC2 and BF3. BF4 dropped the ball with a short campaign and bugged multiplayer at launch

Cacabunga270d ago

Release a decent game and let the mouth to eat do the rest.. you choose to release another BF4 then blame yourselves for it

JEECE269d ago

@SonyStyled

Definitely not BC2. I love the Bad Company games (even though everyone always pretends the first one didn't exist), but even though BC2 has achieved great respect in hindsight, at the time it came out a lot of casuals who bought COD every year either didn't know of Battlefield's existence or saw it as a knockoff of COD. Plus coming out in spring 2010 it was competing against MW2 (the original one) which came out the prior fall.

ChronoJoe270d ago

I mean, the title of the game doesn't have a lot to do with how it sells. The next game is not going to change things but Zampella course change the course of the series towards something that's more on track with that those big player numbers.

With that said, battlefield fans might not want that. To acquire the wider audience they would probably need to betray a lot of the series design principles. Call of Duty is as popular as it is because it is as simple as it is.

"BF2042 Was Not a "Failure"

Suuuuuuure thing little buddy...

excaliburps270d ago

In his defense, BF2042 did turn things around eventually though still falls short of franchise expectations if you based it on BF4, BF3, BF1.

trez1082270d ago

Hated it at lunch, came back a two years after and it was an absolute blast. Not sure how it did sales wise to be called failure or success but BF2042 is a pretty good game .

ElaBosak269d ago

In what way was it a failure exactly?

Outside_ofthe_Box270d ago

Microsoft would just buy EA if that happens.

8bitAssassin269d ago (Edited 269d ago )

We don't need more games ruined. It's like that company puts water on their bread before they eat it.

Inverno270d ago

Here we go again with rubbing mouths. BF has been a flop consistently since BF4, and I mean flop as in disappointing to the fan base due to the technical issues each has had and the gameplay changes needlessly made. Shut up and make a good BF before hyping up another potential disappointment.

Fishy Fingers270d ago (Edited 270d ago )

Bro gave one pretty decent interview and answered the questions he was asked. Not really his fault if people want to cherry pick quotes for "content".

Stick to reading source https://www.ign.com/article...

X-23270d ago

I don't mind them claiming BF2042 wasn't a failure so long as they learned from it and use that experience moving forward into the new game, it was terrible at launch but towards the end it got a bit better. I don't want to see the same thing play out with the new BF though because the ones who are still interested in the franchise have been pretty vocal with what they want and don't want from Battlefield.

ElaBosak269d ago

Learn what exactly? The game was great.
