This has to be the only good review.

Reviews mean nothing until day 1 53gb patch

LordoftheCritics886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

Uh no just checkd its an 8 from them and still a review-in-progress. 8 is still good.

Who knows

BenRC01885d ago

I'm having a great time. Some people struggle to move on and want everything the same as the last game. Then moan it's the same as the last game.

-Foxtrot886d ago

I don't get how one cool feature can outbalance all the negative shit that's wrong with the game

Spenok886d ago

I don't get how someone having fun with the game while others don't really matters. Especially if this person is willing to play now and enjoy themselves while waiting on the bugs/issues to inevitably be fixed.

-Foxtrot886d ago

Because why give the studio a pat on the back for doing a shit job

"Oh look at that guys, these morons are just eating whatever shit we're giving them, now we don't have to try as hard next time until the sales start to slip"

You know...like how cocky most other AAA developers have become.

"waiting on the bugs/issues to inevitably be fixed"

Oh yeah I forgot, people love paying 60 dollars to be a launch day beta tester so the game can "get good" later.

Kaii886d ago

Because this person was issued said game code, didn't pay for this product.
Pretty sure customers have the right to be disgruntled when they get their hands on this alpha project.

The irony is that people turn to Portal to remove everything 2042 related, the only downside is the number of maps provided from each era, not ONE 2042 map is enjoyable for me, vast empty wasteland & even with 128 players?

Didn't realize modern AAA development factored In the general public to not only purchase alpha state games but also to QA for'em free of charge >.>

LordoftheCritics886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

This one cracked me up hard.

Some eye opening stuff in here haha

ChubbyBlade886d ago

Because they’re a professional critic. “Having fun” is only one part of the job. Giving a product a 9/10 even though it’s content anemic and the buggiest battlefield in a long time (which isn’t saying much) should drag down the score by a lot. Cyberpunk 2077 was “fun” but it was also a disaster.

PrinceAli886d ago

because game reviews are for CURRENT state of a game, not the potential of what a game COULD be in a year or 2 lool... Otherwise every game should just be a 10 because theoretically they can just take any criticisms levied at the game and make the changes! Dont be so dense

CDbiggen886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

10000% agree Foxtrot . Some gamers standards are in the toilet now.

It doesn't but people need to justify their purchases. Too many people still don't realize they owe nothing to these companies to just blindly defend them. It's never really been as simple as "vote with your wallet" because if enough blonde consumers buy said product that is horrible then companies keep releasing more bad products. All that happens is that the fans that actually want a good game just leave the series.
These sites also can't give an honest review even if their lives depended on it.

Nuggies886d ago

The same reason people want to justify their purchase, people are also looking for confirmation bias to not buy it. If you were around for battlefield 4 it had the messiest launch ever, you literally couldn't even get into a game for the first week. Yet now you see all these comments that 2042 is a wash, and "just remaster battlefield 4 and i'll be happy". Battlefield 4 ended up being one of the best fps shooters of all time, yet had potentially the worst launch of all time. I'm not justifying all the bugs, but I can definitely see there is a good game with gratifying shooting underneath it all.

FPS_D3TH886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

Great so reviews the product as is, not what you hope it can be. This game is garbage and the devs don’t deserve to eat cake with a mess this large on their hands.

Saaleh886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

They should add another score system for these service games.
ORIGINAL State = 7/10 [compared to previous games and compared to the vision that was marketed]
Shown a Potential of Exciting experience? = 9/10
Progress done in constructing that potential [19/11/2021] = 0/10

That way, the score system becomes useful to those who care about reviews [like the developers]...

Spenok886d ago

So I agree we shouldn't completely ignore what's wrong with it, that definitely needs to be pointed out.

HOWEVER!

That doesn't negate what I said. If this dude sticks to the one mode and loves it, what's wrong with that? This happens in many games... FFXIV or other MMO's for example, there are people who ONLY ever craft, ignoring everything else to just... make stuff. And most MMO's have a ton of content to take on. FFXIV has so much it's ridiculous. And that game launched like shit too.

Anyways, I think we both have a point honestly, but why worry that this guy likes it so much? Let him enjoy his game, and recommend it if he so chooses.

Lmao yikes this review. Only 1942 is actually playable and honestly feels great. But I’m not gonna give a game a 9/10 for 2 maps of fun and ignore the heaping massive pile of garbage that sits inside all the other modes and still taints portal with things like limited player server counts and voiding essential features like Voip. This game in its current state is a fat 2.5/10 and I just don’t have enough copium in storage to put up with it

BenRC01885d ago

Learn to play it. Stop living in the past.
There's plenty of tips videos to help you.

MIDGETonSTILTS17886d ago

Lol, I played everything but Portal. And I only enjoyed HZ when I found people to party chat with (it’s now my favorite BR. The extraction mechanic is way better than the circle mechanic).

ChubbyBlade886d ago (Edited 886d ago )

It’s not a BR. It’s an extraction. Hunt showdown and Tarkov are the exact same gametype and they do it WAY better.

They’re also less than half the price and way more polished.

Spenok886d ago

Now try comparing those 2 games when they launched to this one while it's in its launch period.

Stanjara886d ago

Why 9, just make it a 10/10. What is not perfect here? /S

An Update on Battlefield 2042 and Welcoming Motive Studio to the Team

EA:

While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future. What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042. After Season 7 concludes, we will continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from delivering official seasons.

Streamer Claims DICE Paid Over 60 Content Creators for Battlefield 2042 Feedback, Then Ignored It

Streamer Shroud says that DICE paid 60 to a hundred content creators to help develop Battlefield 2042, but ignored every single advice.

GoodGuy0927d ago

No wonder the game ended up the way it did
What they should've done was ask BF fans. Most general content creators typically go for the trend and the top creators stream games like LOL, fortnite, dota, gtaV, battle royale etc.

_SilverHawk_26d ago

A lot of times people want a game to be something else and I'd probably guess a lot of people wanted call of duty or a lot of it's features.

Bf2042 is amazing now but was not so much at launch. A lot of improvements made the game an amazing game with its own identity. I'm hoping the new battlefield game coming next year improves upon everything in bf2042 and is more akin to bf3 and bf4.

Gamingsince198126d ago

I want them to do a new bad company instead

DustMan25d ago

A ton of people have written the game off now. Which is unfortunate because I find it to be one of the best multiplayer shooters available now. I've been aware that a Battlefield game has not launched in a good condition since....I don't remember. So I never played at launch due to the horror stories, but it seems to have pulled a Battlefield 4 and really turned itself around. Good stuff. Love getting 4 kills on an apc with a well placed RPG, or Stinger to a loaded chopper lol. No other game has given me that kind of joy. lol.

Kornholic26d ago

To be fair, I would not listen to content creators/influencers either.

BISHOP-BRASIL26d ago

Look, I wouldn't pee on an influencer if they were on fire, but why pay for their feedback only to ignore it?

Kornholic26d ago

I don't know. Maybe they thought it was a good idea at first but eventually found out that it was best to ignore influencers' opinions?

jznrpg26d ago

I’ll give some advice and take money for it. You can use it or not use it just make sure to pay me

badboyz0926d ago

who would've thought🤷‍♀️

Yi-Long26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Battlefield fans just want Battlefield to be Battlefield. Which means a focus on Conquest-mode (5/6 flags), some gorgeous and fun maps to play on, 4 balanced classes, and that's it.

The suits keep wanting to turn Battlefield into everything else BUT Battlefield, so first they wanted BF to be more like Call of Duty, so they copied a bunch of stuff from CoD. Then they wanted to take advantage of the Battle Royale stuff, so they went after that crowd. Then they saw the heroes stuff in Overwatch and so they brought in specialists. Etc.

Guys, we just want Battlefield. Not every games has to be everything to all people. Specialize in what makes (made) your series great, which is large(r) maps (appropriate size for the amount of players, which IMO should be 24-32 max, so not just big for bragging brights), integrating vehicle-combat, and just allowing the freedom and flow which made those matches in older Battlefield games so special at times.
