Some cheats have been removed from GTA: The Trilogy for "technical reasons"

From Xfire: "Rockstar Games has removed several cheat codes from the remastered versions of GTA: San Andreas, Vice City and GTA 3 due to 'technical reasons'."

That sucks I love using the cheats on these games

VenomUK986d ago

Perhaps they were removed to prevent easy trophy/achievement attainment. If that's the case, then Rockstar could've added a no achievements mode where you can use all the classic cheats to your heart's content.

My understanding was anytime we activated any cheats trophies and achievements were automatically disabled. Honestly I was willing to buy it digitally and buy the physical because that's how excited I was and this turned out to be a poor quick cash grab type remaster

Take two the parent company neither R* are struggling for cash/income so they really didn't have to rush this to meet a anniversary. Now my expectations for future remasters of Max Payne trilogy, RDR or bully are quite low. Truly we lost CDPR to greed and lost R* to GTA online shark cards and ubi soft think bigger is better and quantity is better than quality (because all their games are copy and paste) they just fill the game world with so many useless icons and how about them XP boosters in single player games

Cheats disable achievements. There’s even a potential bug in the remasters that trophies/achievements could be disabled permanently even if you don’t save after doing a cheat

-Thanks for the info. I haven't got this yet so I didn't know that cheats disable achievements.

For technical reasons? How can a PS2 run them and a freaking current gen console can’t!?

Snookies12986d ago (Edited 986d ago )

Technical reasons... Meaning they threw the ports into a new engine and some of the cheats conflicted with the way the engine was trying to handle them. (At least, that's what I believe to be the most likely case.) Quite simply, this means they didn't want to put in the extra work to try and get all of the cheats working, so they didn't. I'm 100% sure they could have, if they put some effort into it. Clearly, they did not.

"The removed cheats that have been tested and confirmed to not work at the time of writing are all from San Andreas: The Definitive Edition. The losses are adrenaline, the cheat that prevents CJ from ever being hungry, invisible cars, low-gravity cars and the cheat which switches the skybox to midnight permanently."

I can't see adrenaline or permanent midnight being hard to handle at all. However, the invisible cars and low-gravity cars could cause a lot of headaches so they took the easy route and killed them.

Technical reasons means

“We didn’t have enough time” or “we couldn’t be arsed spending time quality wise to make them work”

They're getting as bad as EA, Ubi and Activision.

The laziness needs to stop.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is Still Not up to Standard Two Years Later

Worse still though, it appears as though The Trilogy has been abandoned by Rockstar and Take Two Interactive.

By today's standards, I'd argue that being half assed, having a couple patches, and being abandoned and ultimately left still half assed is infact up to standards.

Yesterday I watched a YouTube video that said the new Netflix iOS/Android versions have a series of visual improvements that significantly improve it and bring it much closer to the vision and mood of the original games.

That's just a f****** insult. They need to release that patch for console/PC asap.

Chard221d ago

If this gets applied to the Steam/console version then I’ll consider getting it

Cacabunga221d ago

Cash grabs have rarely been tuned

1nsomniac221d ago

It was beyond garbage. But we’re all over it now right? like it never happened!

anast221d ago

It's was supposed to be a mobile game.

Wow, Looks Like The Busted GTA Trilogy Is Better On Mobile

The Definitive Editions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas look better than ever according to fans

-Foxtrot224d ago

Probably because it looked like it was made for mobile

Profchaos224d ago

I've checked it out and there's a toggle there for original lighting when that's on you get the sun saturation back orange hues of San Andreas and tons more atmosphere in vc.

Seems to be a huge factor you lose dynamic lights and the overly out of the box he engine feel and the whole thing seems more artistically driven.

I hope this comes to the actual console and ps release eventually

Knightofelemia223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

Better to enjoy the games on PS2 least they weren't a pile of shit.

shinoff2183223d ago

Out of curiosity what is the issue with this trilogy. I was looking to buy it cause san andreas is still my favorite and I've been itching for it. Is it broken?

PhillyDonJawn223d ago

The put little effort into the remaster. It's more of a port than anything. The graphics are barely any better while the colors make it look kinda cartoony
