Various Games Become Unplayable as Denuvo Servers Go Down

A lot of the games currently employing Denuvo have stopped running, this is due to the fact that the servers for Denuvo have gone down.

JEECE1278d ago

I bet there's a not insignificant number of people who are against piracy in principle who buy PC games legitimately and then also download cracked versions just so they can have a functional version of the game they paid for.

MadLad1278d ago

Exactly correct.
You're speaking into the void here though. The majority on here are console only players who insist the vast majority of PC players only pirate games, hack online experiences, and download nude mods on the daily.

GhostofHorizon1278d ago

PC games have garnered a certain level of scrutiny because of the issues that console games don't have to deal with.

You can choose to ignore and dismiss them but it won't change the reality. Playing the victim card is cute though.

MadLad1278d ago

@nakiro

Victim card?
Playing no victim card lol. In all reality every one of those is a result of PC being an open platform creating more positives than those handful of negatives.
The fact is most of those points are made mostly by people who have never sat down and experienced PC gaming for all that it is and all that it offers.

The majority don't pirate. The majority don't hack games. And even something as inconsequential as the existence of nude mods serve just a minuscule niche market, which is easily shown with the mods themselves almost always being some of the least downloaded on the sites that host them.

I'm just mocking the mentality behind the claims. I don't give a toss if they're made, I just criticize the mentality behind those who make them and pigeon hole the community.

GhostofHorizon1278d ago

I think we can also say that majority of PC gamers don't possess a PC capable of taking advantage of all the bells and whistles that the positive side of PC gaming offers and are stuck with only the negative side.

Denuvo is the prime example here.
I used to be a PC gamer but the upkeep and the negatives far outweighed the positives.

The victim card I referred to is just assuming everyone is out there to get the PC players. When it's just the vocal minority shouting cheap shots to make themselves feel better about their own console. It's no different than console wars really.

ActualWhiteMan1278d ago

Preach brother. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

CrimsonWing691277d ago

What’s wrong with nude mods?

FPS_D3TH1277d ago

@Nakiro damn bro, sounds like someone’s a little jelly

Shiore2u1277d ago

@Nakiro That is some oddly specific projection on your part.

KyRo1277d ago (Edited 1277d ago )

A lot of people don't think what you imply about PC, it's a minority. Your response does confirm the the stereoypical entitled, bratty nature of PC gamers though. Always crying and playing victim.

It has DRM?! Let's fake outcry. It has a capped frame rate?! Let's boycott. I won't buy anything from this publisher but let's pirate it and cry on Reddit when it doesn't work like it should. Console get it first?! Where's the equality etc.

PC gaming has so many benefits over consoles yet all you ever see is complaining. I know this is a minority but is those minority who are the most vocal on gaming websites.

kryteris1277d ago

irrelevant really, pirates do not buy games. thus sales speculation do not apply.

I love steam for making it easy to buy and refund games, and all the features it has. But I am seriously thinking of getting the cracked versions as well because of denuvo lol. Drm just makes people want to pirate even more which is just stupid.

gurp1278d ago

This is why Denuvo sucks.
I want to play games at any time.

VersusDMC1278d ago

Jesus...how many Denuvo sucks articles do i have to see?! Do they have a monopoly on the anti piracy market? Why do developers keep using it?!

Orchard1278d ago

There is literally only ever bad news about Denuvo. Games unplayable due to outages or performance being severely limited.

JEECE1278d ago

And it only affects legitimate purchasers. The games get cracked anyway, and then the cracked version runs better than the legitimate version.

ActualWhiteMan1278d ago

As much as I hate it. I understand the reason for it. I have decided I just won’t buy games that have it. Simple as that.

well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.

so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them

Abriael1d 19h ago

Yeah doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility as long as they have enough supply.

Si-Fly1d 9h ago

Do people buy each other games consoles for Thanksgiving? I’m in Europe and always assumed it was just Christmas where gifts were exchanged.

Skate-AK1d 8h ago

I don't think it's so much Thanksgiving, but that Black Friday is the day after.

darthv721d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

That time is often referred to as the start of the Xmas shopping season. For the last few years, retailers would do 'black Friday' deals at various times throughout the year. While many still prefer to start their shopping in the mid to late November, others will just buy when they feel the time (and prices) are right for them.

gold_drake15h ago

i guess its more black friday, should have been more clear ha

Thanksgiving kicks off the Christmas Holiday.

Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.

Rancegamerx1d 5h ago

I agree, I don't see the Switch 2 selling anywhere near the numbers that these predictions suggest or what the general buzz is implying. While the initial sales will likely be strong, driven by diehard fans, I anticipate a gradual decline. It may not drop off immediately, but over time, sales will inevitably taper.

PRIMORDUS1d 5h ago

Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.
