It says a lot about the rapid evolution of these games that GTA: San Andreas (2004) is over 4 times bigger than GTA III (2001).

What I really want to know ... is whether Tommy can swim now. There's a beach right outside the man's apartment.

Well...there's a reason we haven't seen unedited gameplay yet 😏

jeromeface995d ago

remaster, not remake. I wouldn't expect any swimming trunks...

Profchaos996d ago

Nope these are remasters of the original if he couldn't swim in the original he can't swim in the remaster.

Changing the game drastically like this would break many aspects of it being allowed to swim would allow you to swim between islands without completing any missions. Unless they brought in a VCS method where you would have stamina.

Also the underwater was only partially designed with a few bodies in concrete boots some basic marine life so I doubt they made all of that up again and changed the game that much.

jBlakeeper996d ago

Yeah no way they put in that much effort. That would involve a lot more than just remastering the games.

PrinceAli996d ago

I dont know if i agree with you on this because there have been many improvements to modernise the gameplay... The modernising of shooting and aiming mechanics would 100% be more game breaking than swimming in these games and yet we got that in the game so im thinking it's going to be possible

Profchaos995d ago

@princeali I guess it depends on just how much they changed the controls a full GTA v control scheme would mean they included cover mechanics that would be game changing removing most of the challenge but not breaking. By allowing you to swim across to another island is literally allowing you to bypass most limitations they built in the original

Iceball2000996d ago

wait, why didnt they just make it so it boots to a menu and you pick the game. why not just have it all in one download?

Flawlessmic996d ago

Sperate downloads is much better, reasoning why if lets say i finish gta 3 and no longer plan on playing it, i can delete it to have space for other games.

Where as ur way even though im only playing 1 of them all 3 will take up space regardless

Mr_cheese995d ago

Surely you could still have one menu, and treat each as a DLC of sorts so it would only open if downloaded?

Save you all a click.

Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition (PS5) – 5.293GB

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition (PS5) – 10.768GB

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition (PS5) – 22.679GB

I'm assuming you don't wear capes. You're still a hero. Cheers, mate.

Either the textures are truly massive or they didn't care much at all for proper compression.

File size for Xseries

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy - Definitive Edition
• 11/11/2021
• 49GB

• GTA III - 8GB
• GTA Vice City - 14GB
• GTA San Andreas - 27GB

Eonjay995d ago (Edited 995d ago )

Those PS5 compression savings are clutch. Effectively you can fit the same amount of games on the internal drive as Xbox. Maybe more.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is Still Not up to Standard Two Years Later

Worse still though, it appears as though The Trilogy has been abandoned by Rockstar and Take Two Interactive.

By today's standards, I'd argue that being half assed, having a couple patches, and being abandoned and ultimately left still half assed is infact up to standards.

VenomUK221d ago (Edited 221d ago )

Yesterday I watched a YouTube video that said the new Netflix iOS/Android versions have a series of visual improvements that significantly improve it and bring it much closer to the vision and mood of the original games.

banger88221d ago

That's just a f****** insult. They need to release that patch for console/PC asap.

Chard221d ago

If this gets applied to the Steam/console version then I’ll consider getting it

Cacabunga221d ago

Cash grabs have rarely been tuned

1nsomniac221d ago

It was beyond garbage. But we’re all over it now right? like it never happened!

anast221d ago

It's was supposed to be a mobile game.

This is what happens when you farm something out to the wrong people.

Wow, Looks Like The Busted GTA Trilogy Is Better On Mobile

The Definitive Editions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas look better than ever according to fans

-Foxtrot224d ago

Probably because it looked like it was made for mobile

Profchaos224d ago

I've checked it out and there's a toggle there for original lighting when that's on you get the sun saturation back orange hues of San Andreas and tons more atmosphere in vc.

Seems to be a huge factor you lose dynamic lights and the overly out of the box he engine feel and the whole thing seems more artistically driven.

I hope this comes to the actual console and ps release eventually

Knightofelemia223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

Better to enjoy the games on PS2 least they weren't a pile of shit.

shinoff2183223d ago

Out of curiosity what is the issue with this trilogy. I was looking to buy it cause san andreas is still my favorite and I've been itching for it. Is it broken?

PhillyDonJawn223d ago

The put little effort into the remaster. It's more of a port than anything. The graphics are barely any better while the colors make it look kinda cartoony
